Roaderunner Posted January 18, 2009 Report Posted January 18, 2009 Hi,We will be in Vegas for 5 nights 4/14-4/18 inclusive. Our budget is $80-$100 per night.I've been told that the following hotels are the nicer ones; Bellagio, Venetian, Wynn, Caesars or Planet Hollywood. However I am happy to take guidance for peeps on here who have stayed in vegas. Also I have no idea if my budget is realistic to secure any of the above hotels for when we are going.I would really appreciate any help you can provide in suggesting a bidding strategy and the best time to start looking.CheersRoaderunner
dahammer Posted January 18, 2009 Report Posted January 18, 2009 Welcome!you might just need the Roadrunner's luck to score one of these properties....when you are bidding through PRICELINE, you must be resolved to accept any hotel with the minimum star rating that you choose in the zone of your choice.....for example, you mention that you like the Wynn, but the Trump is often won in this same zone. Also, the P-Ho is a 4* property but is located (I believe) in the same zone as the Westin....are you willing to accept this? Please use the PRICELINE or HOTWIRE links on this board if you proceed.
Roaderunner Posted January 18, 2009 Author Report Posted January 18, 2009 Hi dahammer,Thanks for the welcome and assistance. It is our first trip to the US, so I am not 100% sure about any of the hotels. I have been canvassing friend's opinions who have been to vegas on what the felt were the better hotels. In terms of the risk, I am happy to chance my arm going through Priceline to try and keep the cost down as we are in the US for 21 nights in total, from what you are saying it looks like I need to be bidding for 4* as a minimum to get anything near these hotelsWynn Vs Trump - I think the general concensus is to avoid the Trump both from feedback on here and on tripadvisor, is there anyway to achieve this at all i.e. not bidding too low?PH Vs Westin - I'm not sure on this one, I have stayed in Westin before and know the beds are to die for, very comfy. However I would be happy to take a steer on your thoughts on this one.At the end of the day my wife and I are going for the whole experience, not just the hotel, so all we need is a clean room, with courteous staff, however we would like to be on strip but are not averse to a short walk either.
thereuare Posted January 18, 2009 Report Posted January 18, 2009 I'm assuming your 5 nites are 4/14-4/19.If you search HOTWIRE there is a 5* hotel in the North Strip zone for $122/nite which shows a Casino so this is definately not the Trump (best guess is that it is the Wynn). Not sure if you want to extend your budget an extra $22/nite, but using HOTWIRE would be the only way to guarantee avoiding the Trump at the 5 star level (assuming you buy a property which shows the casino icon... since the Trump does not have a casino)Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. kimh99 Posted January 19, 2009 Report Posted January 19, 2009 Hi,I've been told that the following hotels are the nicer ones; Bellagio, Venetian, Wynn, Caesars or Planet Hollywood.I wouldn't put Planet Hollywood in the same category as the others you have listed but I haven't stayed at Caesars. Your price range definitely has a shot at PH but like others have mentioned would you be satisfied with the Westin Casuarina? (off-strip). Your budget would almost assuredly get you Treasure Island or NYNY (or comparable level) with change to spare if being on the strip is a must (I think you mentioned a short walk would be acceptable). As for the Bellagio, Venetian, or Wynn, $80-100 would be a stretch, although recently many folks have been posting winning bids for the Wynn at around $90 to just over $100.
