4 star crowne plaza hollywood beach resort.

116./ night On the door the rack rates were 450 - 600/night OUTRAGEOUS!! which i would never pay that much for this room.

I was hoping for something special on the beach. I actually viewed this hotel website after looking at the amenities and figured it to be this resort. which to make a long story short led me to this site as i saw the opportunity to "figure" out which hotel you are getting by looking at amenties I purposely did not use priceline becaue i didn't want to get a hotel that was not ON the beach. Unfortunately the hotel itself was across the street from the beach though hotwire said it was ON beachfront property. It also was adjacent to a waterway and by looking out the window we could tell we got the room that they used to take the picture of the water views as you could have only been in our room to have gotten the best views. Unfortunately there was little of the beach water to be seen since the large hotels were blocking the view. just a sliver of water! The sunrise and sunset were only great from the pool area (walking down to the pool area) the pool was immensely warm and the hot tub hit the spot. The food on the property was extremely expensive (1 bowl of cereal was 6dollars and water was also 6.oo a bagel was 8 so no eating at this place. )so we ate out at the olive garden and the knife and that was great. The lobby had a very small Starbucks which were at Starbucks prices which were cheap compared to the hotels so we took advantage of that too.

I felt i could have done much better on price line and was very upset about the lack of space but the seven layer bed made up for it. There were five of us and I couldn't figure out how to rent another rooom at this hotel for $116 a night so we got stuck in there. The parking fees were outrageous at 13 self park and 17 valet which was an unexpected added expense. It cost $40 for a roll away bed so my son said "give me the money and I'll sleep on the floor" He ended up sleeping on the "couch" which actually was a very tiny lounge chair meant for a child i belive. It was a deceiving item in the room because in the picture it looked much bigger like enough to fit at least one person but it wasn't. Another thing was there was no tub; there was only a shower and the sink was outside the bathroom. only a sheer curtain separating us from the bathroom smell! ( my husband had food poisoning) THe microwave and the refrigerator was a nice plus. The beds were double beds though the front desk person called them queen. THe bed size was also disappointing. I felt like i was at a Sheraton which was changed to the crowne plaza. Looking down the street at the Westin was something. I was also put aback at the advertisement that this was a fort lauderdale area hotel on the beach. it is in Hollywood which i found out as soon as i saw the confirmation page.

It was my second try on hotwire so now i know better.

I know most everyone else paid way more than we did so that made me feel better too.

People generally dressed up every day all day in this hotel. except us. I would have been happier paying less for a 2 star hotel with two rooms but that is only because we started out in orlando in a 2 bedroom at the sheraton for only $56 for the week so that played with me a bit and didn't mind paying extra to be on the beach.

I was asked by hotwire to review my experience and did i think it was a 4 star hotel and going with their definition of a 4 star resort i must say i would have to agree but it was confusing because crowne plaza typically are 3 1/2 star hotels. and i expected one of the "premium hotel" brand hotels whatever that means by hotwire terms. The survey showed the brand for 3 1/2 stars is crowne plaza etc.
