dahammer Posted January 14, 2009 Report Posted January 14, 2009 I first checked HOTWIRE's rates in this area, there was a 3* with Fitness, Pool, Restaurant, Laundry, High Speed Internet for $64; thought this might be the Holiday Inn or Radisson. Bid $41 for a 3* and received a counteroffer to increase my bid by $12. I closed this browser and accessed PRICELINE (using the board links) added a rebid zone and bid $44, but received another counteroffer to raise my bid by $12. Opened up another browser and started a new bid at the 2.5* level at $47, success!Your Offer Price: $47.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $12.18 Total Charges: $59.18 The best rate on the Holiday Inn website was $120, so I'm pleased with the win. The hotel has been going through a renovation with new bedding and carpeting, wifi is free.
thereuare Posted January 14, 2009 Report Posted January 14, 2009 Congratulations on your win! This can frequently be a tough zone to get a great deal so i think this sub-$50 at less than half price is truly a bargain.Thank you for sharing your results with the board and using our PRICELINE link to begin your bidding.Enjoy your stay. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
dahammer Posted January 15, 2009 Author Report Posted January 15, 2009 upon check in, the clerk acknowledged that I booked through PRICELINE and the next time I'm in this area I should call the Holiday Inn directly and they would honor my PRICELINE rate while earning Priority Club points. :). There was also a manager's reception in the lobby with complimentary beer, wine and snacks. Overall, a decent property with a great staff, but even the newly renovated rooms are still on the small side for a suburban hotel....I guess there's only so much that can be done to update a 1960's Holiday Inn with the classic outdoor pool in the courtyard. Tango Argentinian Steak House is off my radar for awhile, but I found some decent kebabs at Pita House in nearby Patchogue
