Rochester Rich Posted December 31, 2008 Report Posted December 31, 2008 Already have 2 nights at Hotel Vintage Park (Tue-Thu) at $80 and need 3 more nights.Figured I'd work the Fri-Sun stay and then add the 3rd night either at the end of the Vintage Park stay or the beginning of the Lake Union Hotel stay based on where we ended up at Lake Union. Naturally there are no guarantees that I'd be able to extend either reservation but until I reach $75 I might as well try. With two free rebid zones and a few days to pull it together I bid as follows:$48, 52, 56, and 60.I'll try through $80 over the next couple of days.Stay tuned.Started the bidding process through the convenient PRICELINE link at the top of this page.By the way the Hotel Vintage Park said they'd make note of my request for 2 beds but could not guarantee availability. There was no comment about an extra charge. In Toronto I had a clerk go out of his way to secure rooms with 2 beds at the King Eddy last month so I am optimistic about getting two beds per room.Any thoughts about my bidding strategy of 2 nights and then adding to one or the other. Might I have better success bidding Thu through Sun rather than just Fri-Sun? Happy New Year, Rich
Colfax Posted December 31, 2008 Report Posted December 31, 2008 What's the Lake Union Residence Inn's rate on the hotel's own website? Please check the rates one night at time. No sense putting a lot of energy into this plan if the Residence Inn is sold out. Also do you see any 3* in Hotwire's Lake Union zone for your dates? What price? Hotwire rates are often a crude barometer of what you might expect to pay on Priceline. Finally keep in mind you're not just bidding for Residence Inn. Courtyard and Silver Cloud Inn are also in Lake Union zone, though almost all accepted Priceline bids in this zone are at the Residence Inn.
Rochester Rich Posted January 1, 2009 Author Report Posted January 1, 2009 1/8-1/11 (3 nights)Thanks for the tip. I figured I was bidding for the Residence Inn. I checked their website and found rooms available at about $119 /night.I also figured the Residence Inn was ideal for our situation (probably a king bed and a sofa bed).Restarted the bidding process where I left off. With the 2 rebid zones I had 4 more bids to make.$61 --- countered at +$17.$64 --- XXX$67 --- Accepted. 2 rooms, 3 nights at 67 + taxes/fees.Total Charges: $473.Please change title. Thanks, Rich
Colfax Posted January 1, 2009 Report Posted January 1, 2009 That's great, Rochester Rich! You guys will have plenty of room to spread out at the Residence Inn, plus that free breakfast buffet.Residence Inn and Vintage Park (where you're staying your other two nights) are such different hotels. After your trip I'd be interested to hear which you liked best. Thanks for using the BetterBidding PRICELINE link.Enjoy your stay.
