Double_Downon11 Posted December 30, 2008 Report Posted December 30, 2008 Looking for help using Priceline to bid on a mid-size or above for an upcoming stay in Fort Lauderdale next week. Never used Priceline for car rentals before so any help would be appreciated. Thanks,Chris
Colfax Posted December 31, 2008 Report Posted December 31, 2008 A good starting point is to survey retail rates for your dates, using Orbitz, Expedia, or any other site you like. Then you use Hotwire or Priceline to try and beat the best rate you've found. So what's the best price you've found for a Midsize or larger so far?
Double_Downon11 Posted December 31, 2008 Author Report Posted December 31, 2008 I had seen a few prices around $30-$35/day but figured I'd go straight to Hotwire or Priceline. I will do some more research tomorrow to see what other sites offer before I move forward.
Colfax Posted December 31, 2008 Report Posted December 31, 2008 Don't assume Priceline or Hotwire has the best deal on cars. Often, not always. It just takes a few seconds to survey general rates on Expedia etc. Maybe check a few rental companies own websites for "last minute specials" or other specials like "third day free". National, Alamo, Budget have last minute specials, maybe some others. Then you'll know what rate you're trying to beat on Hotwire or Priceline. Is this a weekend stay?
