A good starting point is to survey retail rates for your dates, using Orbitz, Expedia, or any other site you like.

Then you use Hotwire or Priceline to try and beat the best rate you've found.

So what's the best price you've found for a Midsize or larger so far?

Don't assume Priceline or Hotwire has the best deal on cars. Often, not always.

It just takes a few seconds to survey general rates on Expedia etc. Maybe check a few rental companies own websites for "last minute specials" or other specials like "third day free". National, Alamo, Budget have last minute specials, maybe some others.

Then you'll know what rate you're trying to beat on Hotwire or Priceline.

Is this a weekend stay?
