jbold Posted December 23, 2008 Report Posted December 23, 2008 :) :) I am so furious i am shaking right now, my wife and i are taking our 4 year old daughter to disneyland in early january, then after we are going to vegas for 9 nights, we have taken her to vegas before and take her to the palms kids quest while we do our thing,so today we seen on hotwire a deal for a 4 star central strip, seeing that it didnt say customer favorite, we knew it had to be either planet hollywood or paris by process of eliminationwhich works perfect because the shuttle at paris takes us to rio, then from there we can walk to the palms, and vice versa, not to mention the rio shuttle can take you to anywhere on the strip you need(harrahs, or paris) so north and south are covered, even caesars palace i think.anyways we placed our bid , and to my dismay we got treasure island, which is completely not on any shuttle routes without walking forever, and now we will have to take a cab to the palms all the time which will probably cost 13.00 every time.not to mention countless amounts of walking if we want to go hop the shuttle at bills gamblin hall to the coast.i am very upset that it didnt say "customer favorite" and (note to mod, please remove that title from your pinned list because it ultimately cost me and my wife) and now we wont be sleeping tonight!also to add fuel to the fire we could have had the wynn for another 9.00-what is a better deal ?76.00 for TI?or 85 for Wynn? you do the mathwe normally stay at 5 star hotels when we go there but we thought we would sacrifice for the convenience, and now it has backfired
Colfax Posted December 23, 2008 Report Posted December 23, 2008 I'm so sorry this happened to you, jbold, and especially since this is a nine-night stay. The absence of "Customer Favorite", by itself, doesn't mean anything because that tag comes and goes, even for the same hotel. When the Hotel List says a hotel is a "Customer Favorite" all that means is that it's been reported as a "Customer Favorite" at least once. The hotel might not be tagged "Customer Favorite" every time, as you now know only too well. :) You didn't post the icons for your win but I plugged your dates into Hotwire and came up with this 4* in Center Strip:Casino, Restaurant, Pool, Fitness, Business, Golf, SpaIf those are the same icons you saw when you purchased there were two strong clues this would be Treasure Island, even without the "Customer Favorite" tag.First, the icons match what's been reported for Treasure Island in the past (see Hotwire Hotel List), but they don't match past reports for Planet Hollywood or Paris, both of which have a Highspeed Internet icon too.And the TripAdvisor stats (4/5, 1500+ reviews) are a match for Treasure Island but not a match for Planet Hollywood (3.5/5) or Paris (1200+ reviews).I'm not saying this to rub salt in your wound, but just to suggest that if you have any doubts about a hotel's identity in the future, feel free to post here for confirmation in advance. It's free, after all, so why not?More than once I've won a hotel I thought was going to be a disaster and it turned out just fine, or better. I hope the same happens for you.
