carcam18 Posted December 22, 2008 Report Posted December 22, 2008 I am new to this site and looking to book something in North Miami Beach - Bal Harbour-Hollywood-Fort Lauderdale Beach area. After looking at success here, I was hoping to find either Newport Beachside Resort, Crown Plaza Resort Hollywood Beach, or Sheraton Yankee Clipper on hotwire. I don't think I see them. Any help would be appreciated. Traveling to area for the Orange Bowl with wife and two kids and was really hoping for one of these at a great rate or something comparable. Another couple may be looking to stay near us also, but not sure how to handle two rooms.Any help?
AaronJB Posted December 22, 2008 Report Posted December 22, 2008 Welcome to the site :)What would be your budget for these dates?
carcam18 Posted December 22, 2008 Author Report Posted December 22, 2008 I'd like to stay under $200 per room. If I could get a 2BR then under $350 would be nice.Am I asking to much?
slick_gd Posted December 22, 2008 Report Posted December 22, 2008 Can you clarify your date of stay. You mention 1/2/29, which I take to mean Jan 2 09, but the Orange Bowl is Jan 1.
AaronJB Posted December 22, 2008 Report Posted December 22, 2008 Additionally, there *are* cheaper prices in other parts of Miami if you're willing to stay downtown or in some of the other areas.
AaronJB Posted December 22, 2008 Report Posted December 22, 2008 The Alexander All-Suite does have bayview 2BR suites for $349 via Expedia. According to the site, the suites are 1,200 square feet. If this is of interest, please use the site's link to Expedia.com (click the Expedia.com)
carcam18 Posted December 22, 2008 Author Report Posted December 22, 2008 Sorry for date mistake. We are flying in on 12/29/08 and departing on Jan. 3, 09. Orange bowl is on the 1st. Trying to make a family vacation out of it and prefer to stay on beach or at least very near (walking distance to beach). Thanks for the help. I am going to relook at the two mentioned above Miami Beach Resort and Best Western. This site is great.
AaronJB Posted December 22, 2008 Report Posted December 22, 2008 Oh, well - the ones I mentioned above may not be available because I was looking at 1/2 only. :)
carcam18 Posted December 22, 2008 Author Report Posted December 22, 2008 Sorry about the mess up. Anything else you see on my dates?
AaronJB Posted December 22, 2008 Report Posted December 22, 2008 No problem :)Let me check around and see what I find. Be right back.
carcam18 Posted December 22, 2008 Author Report Posted December 22, 2008 [Any help with these from hotwire (miami search)2.5 star miami beach north -bal harbour - Sunny islesbeachfront, fitness center, pool, restaurant, business center3 star condo- Miami Beach North - Bal Harbour - Sunny Islesnear beach, comp breakfast, pool, restaurant, coin laundry, tennisand this one from hotwire (ft. lauderdale search)3.5 star in fort lauderdale beach areasuite, near beach, smoke free, fitness center, pool, restaurant, business center, coin laundryAlso, prior to using this site, I found what I was sure was Crowne Plaza Hollywood Beach on Lastminutetravel.com for $164 however it listed the room as on request and if I went forward they would get back to me within 48 hours to see if accepted. Do you or anyone have experience with this and is there a good chance to get that room? Thanks.
AaronJB Posted December 22, 2008 Report Posted December 22, 2008 Option 1: a 3* in Miami Beach with the amenities Beachfront, Pool(s), Restaurant(s), High-speed Internet Access for $153 (the price you see may differ), which is likely the Miami Beach Holiday Inn.There is also a 3* Condo in the Miami Beach North - Bal Harbor - Sunny Isles area with the amenities beachfront, breakfast, pool, restaurant, laundry, golf. This isn't an exact match, but it MIGHT be the Best Western Oceanfront. $188. The Churchill Suites is available for $326.25 (2 Bedroom) on Orbitz. FABSAVE10 coupon code takes 10% off each night, which gives you a 2BR condo for about $50 under your max. Please use these HOTWIRE and Orbitz.com links to start either purchase.
AaronJB Posted December 22, 2008 Report Posted December 22, 2008 I think the Churchill Suites looks like a pretty nice option if you are interested in a 2BR.
carcam18 Posted December 22, 2008 Author Report Posted December 22, 2008 I can't seem to get the churchill suites. It says no rooms available.
carcam18 Posted December 22, 2008 Author Report Posted December 22, 2008 I don't see the Holiday inn at $153.Maybe I am doing something wrong?
AaronJB Posted December 22, 2008 Report Posted December 22, 2008 Churchill Suites Intracoastal Yacht Club is in the North Miami Beach area on Orbitz. The Hotel is $349; I don't know why it was coming up $326 when I searched it earlier (maybe I was accidentally searching for 2 people instead of 4?) However, you can still use the FABSAVE10 coupon code to get 10% off each night.Orbitz link: Orbitz.com.
AaronJB Posted December 22, 2008 Report Posted December 22, 2008 I'm still seeing the Beachfront, Pool(s), Restaurant(s), High-speed Internet Access 3* Miami Beach, but I'm seeing a higher price - $195 - maybe I searched for the wrong dates earlier when I saw the lower price?
carcam18 Posted December 23, 2008 Author Report Posted December 23, 2008 Need identity help2.5 star north miami beach-balharbour-sunny islesbeachfront, fitness center, pool, restaurant, hi speed, tennis, spaStill struggling to find something in 3* or higher range in north miami up to hollywood area that I like for under $200 per night.
Colfax Posted December 24, 2008 Report Posted December 24, 2008 The 2.5* in North Miami Beach zone could be the Howard Johnsons Plaza Hotel Dezerland Beach and Spa. How's that for a name? The TripAdvisor ratings of 2.5/5 with 140+ reviews are a match.Caveat: I'm not very familiar with Miami Beach and Hotwire's maps aren't detailed enough for me to tell where Miami Beach zone ends and North Miami Beach zone begins. Howard Johnsons is at 87th and Collins. If that's in North Miami Beach zone then HoJos would be my guess. The reviews I looked at weren't too good though, as refelected in the 2.5* rating.
Colfax Posted December 24, 2008 Report Posted December 24, 2008 Is Ft Lauderdale still an option? In post #1 you wrote you wanted North Miami/Hollywood/Ft Lauderdale. In post #18 you said just North Miami or Hollywood.Checking quad occupancy the Hollywood hotels are over $300 for your dates, but there's a 3.5* Resort in Ft Lauderdale Beach zone for $200, your limit.
carcam18 Posted December 25, 2008 Author Report Posted December 25, 2008 Yes, Fort Lauderdale is still an option. Do you have any idea which place the 3.5 resort is you speak of?
AaronJB Posted December 25, 2008 Report Posted December 25, 2008 The 3.5* in FT Lauderdale Beach zone w/ Resort, Near Beach, Restuarant, Pool, Fitness, Hi-Speed Internet, Business, Golf, Tennis, Spa would appear to be a possible match for the Hyatt Pier 66. The tripadvisor rating also matches..Please use the site's HOTWIRE link if you decide to book this property.
carcam18 Posted December 28, 2008 Author Report Posted December 28, 2008 Thanks for all the help. I have reserved the marriott harbor beach for $199 which was a special rate that appeared on the orange bowl partner web site yesterday. I think that is perfect for us.Now I need rental car help. Flying into West Palm beach on 12/30 and departing from there on 1/3. Any suggestions would be appreciated.I will definitely be using this site for future hotel bookings as I have learned alot from here.
Colfax Posted December 28, 2008 Report Posted December 28, 2008 Thanks for the update, carcam18.
