greggyqc Posted December 20, 2008 Report Posted December 20, 2008 Hey guys first time I write here and would like to have help on a bidding strategy (priceline) for a4* Vancouver Downtown on 12/29/08-12/30/08 (1 night)I would like to get the Delta Vancouver Suites. If you need more info please let me know. Thanks alot guys!
AaronJB Posted December 20, 2008 Report Posted December 20, 2008 Welcome to the site1. What would be your budget for hotel for the one night?2. If you want a specific hotel, I would recommend booking it conventionally (or seeing if it might be showing on HOTWIRE). Saying that you want a specific hotel and are going to try to get it on PRICELINE could very easily result in disappointment, as you have to be willing to accept what you get with PRICELINE.
AaronJB Posted December 20, 2008 Report Posted December 20, 2008 Given the rates I'm seeing on these dates, I'd start bidding for a 4* in downtown Vancouver at $57 and then try $62 24 hours later if $57 isn't accepted. If $62 isn't accepted, try $67 and then finally $70.However, given the rates on these dates, I'd be surprised if you had to go to $70.Please use the site's PRICELINE link (click the PRICELINE) to start your purchase.
tilepusher Posted December 22, 2008 Report Posted December 22, 2008 I'm not sure why AaronJB advised you to wait 24 hours after your first bid. You have five rebid zones for a 4* bid -- City Hall-Downtown Vancouver South, Coquitlam-Burnaby, Langley, North Vancouver, and Surrey-Pitt Meadows (always verify, of course, before you bid). A possible strategy is:Start with 4* Downtown Vancouver and bid $54If rejected, add a rebid zone and bid $57If rejected, add a rebid zone and bid $60If rejected, add a rebid zone and bid $63If rejected, add a rebid zone and bid $66If rejected, add a rebid zone and bid $70This way you have a good chance of closing the deal in one session. If you've already made one bid and have been rejected, you can either wait 24 hours and try the above strategy, or you can start with the second bid (4* DT + one rebid zone at $57) and proceed from there. If you're not familiar with the rebid zone strategy, read this post on Priceline rebidding and feel free to ask us for help if you have any questions.
Colfax Posted December 22, 2008 Report Posted December 22, 2008 Keep in mind, greggyqc, that the strategies AaronJB and tilepusher offered are strategies to get ANY 4* hotel in Downtown Vancouver; not necessarily the Delta Vancouver Suites.
greggyqc Posted January 30, 2009 Author Report Posted January 30, 2009 Didn't book. Work related travel was cancelled. Thanks for your help. Next time will book through the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE Links given on advice.
