Bid Miami airport area

4* $100 rejected

3 1/2* $110 rejected

added downtown

3* $115 rejected

really want airport area and will go down to a 2 1/2 * if I have to but would prefer 3 or above. Miami boat show is during these dates, but I did some research on PL, 3*, and 3 1/2 * are on their site for $161 up to $269.

So, what did I do wrong, or is it just the date that is working against me? I have been researching all of this for quite a while now.

Good morning, and welcome to the site. :)

It's more than likely a matter of the date working against you (although I wouldn't try to bid more the lower the star rating you go). The hotels in the Miami Airport area look to be busy - Orbitz has 4*'s for $224 and up.

When I search on HOTWIRE, I do see a 3* in the Miami Airport area with the amenities: Suite, Complimentary Breakfast, Pool, Fitness, Hi-Speed Internet, Kitchenette for $119. This would be a likely match for the Staybridge Suites - if it is, that hotel has a retail price of $170 - not a bad deal.

If you were willing to take a 3* for $115 when bidding on PRICELINE, the HOTWIRE listing would at least ensure a suite and breakfast for about the same price.

If you want to continue with PRICELINE, I'd bid $120 for a 4* on the next round of bidding and $115 for a 3.5*, and then increase by $5 24 hours later if that doesn't work.

However, keep in mind the HOTWIRE listing may go away or raise in price. If the Hotwire idea appeals to you, I'd take it.

Folks, I have had nothing but trouble accessing HOTWIRE for 3 days now and finally needed tech help from MSN tonight. So, I am assuming that any info that is posted there now is already "obsolete" from this morning.

At this point I am giving up for the day and will try to catch up on everything tomorrow a.m. Aaron, thanks for the help and if you wouldn't mind checking back here again tomorrow, I would appreciate it. Also, anyone else, I will treasure any and all help that you can provide.

Also, I cannot change the time clock for my area, I have been logged in and gone to the control panel, but still have not been successful. Maybe I will do better once I can shake off these cobwebs from trying to straighten out the mess with MSN today.

Have a good evening all.

The 3* Hotwire Miami Airport listing I mentioned above (w/Suite, breakfast, pool, fitness, internet, kitchenette) is still available on HOTWIRE, although I'm seeing the price has gone up a few bucks to $122 from the $119 I was seeing yesterday.

The only thing that I am pulling up this morning for Hotwire Miami airport is a 4* for $177 and a 3* for $115.

I believe that I am doing this correctly, but if not, would appreciate someone telling me the right way. Aaron, I do not see a 3* for $122?

The prices you see on HOTWIRE may differ slightly from what I see. If you are seeing the same 3* in the Miami Airport area with the amenities: Suite, Complimentary Breakfast, Pool, Fitness, Hi-Speed Internet, Kitchenette for $7 less ($115 versus the $122 I'm seeing), then all the better.

No problem! I just hope that everything is okay! :) :)

I'll just keep checking to see what I can find for these dates and let us know when you are free to work on this and we will then work out a hotel idea.

I'm back here again, at least temporarily.

Family emergency was pretty much ok, still working on some things, but ok.

Thanks for waiting. Now my problem is that my pc, (aka Elvira), has decided to take a holiday break, so I will be at the local library for a bit. To top things off, hubby has decided that he wants to also look for something near the ocean for our last night post cruise. We are from the midwest and we will not see any "real" water again until next May, so he wants to take advantage of it while we can.

So, to update--

Feb. 12-13 Miami Beach?

Miami DT

Miami airport, I guess in that order.

3* or above

price range from $100 to $160 (or less)

I will try to check here again tomorrow, (Sunday the 21st), or not until Tuesday the 23rd. Monday is filled with appts.

Thanks again. Happy Holidays all.

Sorry to hear you're having computer issues :)

Two questions...

Feb. 12-13 Miami Beach?

Miami DT

Miami airport, I guess in that order.

Did you want to bid up to your limit for the Downtown zone first and then, if unsuccessful, try for the Airport zone... or are you really looking for the least expensive 3* or better in either of the two zones.

While the Downtown zone is somewhat close to water and you may be able to see some water from some of the rooms at these properties, i dont' think the Airport is that close to the water, and neither of these zones are what i would consider to be beach or even oceanfront areas... how important is being near the water for this post cruise stay?

I guess his idea was to be able to stroll the beach one more night before we head home. But it looks to me like the price for that little extra would just be ridiculous. We need to have some options for our last day as we will be in port early of course, with luggage to drop off somewhere, and then we will have the entire day to do things. So, possibly the 3* options that will give us opportunities for our day and to enjoy a little more of Miami. I will be all shopped out so that is not a requirement, but some nice cafes or not too far from some things to enjoy outdoors?

Have to log off now--time is up at the library. Thanks in advance.

Not sure how often you've cruised, but depending upon the ship, i think you'll be lucky to 'have the rest of the day' much before 1pm (unless you have status to get advanced disembarkation grouping). By the time the ship clears customs, those with early flights to catch leave the ship, then the later groups (you since you're staying locally in the area), retrieve your luggage, catch a taxi, check-in to the hotel, etc... all takes time.

Perhaps your experience has been different, but disembarkation day is more like another 'travel day' more often than not, imo.

HOTWIRE has 3* hotels (Beachfront as well as Beach Access) in the Miami Beach and North Miami Beach areas for $150-$160... or there is a 4* hotel offered for a similar amount in the Coral Gables zone if you're looking for a more 'laid back' atmosphere and just relaxing at the hotel.

Let us know your thoughts and we'll advise accordingly.

Any chance that you might know which hotels those are in the Miami beach area? What would be looking at for cab fares say from the POM to a hotel in Coral Gables an then to the airport on the following day?

We have cruised numerous times and know what debarkation is like, but we are on the Journey this time and know that it will be much smoother with less passengers and our Celebrity founders status to debark early if we choose.coming into play.

Does Hotwire have a phone number as we will not be able to book online at home?

thereuare is travelling now, Gramma willi.

Please post the icons for the Miami Beach and Coral Gables hotels you're interested in and someone will try to identify them.

I've heard that Hotwire will make reservations over the phone under some circumstances. It will still be an opaque purchase though. That is they won't tell you the name of the hotel you're buying until after you've purchased. Their customer service number 1-800-468-9473.

Good morning. :)

I'm not familiar with the Miami area, but let me see what I can find. Be back shortly.

Sorry, the Coral Gables hotel is 4* $157 fitness, pool, restaurant, business center, and internent

I know nothing about CG, how far from the airport is it and what might cab fare be from POM to CG, then from there to MIA the next day?

As I stated a few days ago, my pc took a Holiday "break" last week and I am doing work here at the library, if I don't get back to you today, (I only have 15 minutes left), thanks for all of the help.
