frenchmn Posted December 21, 2008 Author Report Posted December 21, 2008 Congratulations on your win! This is a new star rating for this property (previously 4*)... thanks for the update to the Priceline Hotel List and using our PRICELINE link to begin your purchase. An FYI about this area, I just looked for Southfield 12/31/08-01/04/09 now is showing 4* available for bids. It wasn't available when I bid and received the Westin. So if Marriott and Westin are 3.5* there must be another unknown property available...or they are playing with ratings/confused. I have also confirmed 3.5 stars in my internet bidding travels. How often do they play with stars? When I looked at my history, the summary bid stars for Westin are 3.5, but when you look at the property detail, it has 4*. I'd vote for confused. The trouble is whuch do you bid 4 or 3.5? I also saw on their winning bids scroll, 4* Southfield $60.Happy Holidays to all.
Colfax Posted December 21, 2008 Report Posted December 21, 2008 How often do they play with stars?Since September, when Priceline introduced the 3.5* bidding class, they've been playing with stars quite a bit. A number of hotels have gone from 3* to 3.5*, then back to 3*, within a matter of weeks. I hope it settles down soon as it's confusing to purchasers (and makes keeping the Hotel Lists current a chore). In Priceline's retail side the Westin Southfield shows as a 4* now. Apparently it's been upgraded from 3.5* since you bid. If you look at your acceptance page under "MY TRIPS" it should say you won a 4* hotel, as rating revisions do get transmitted to old acceptance pages. The Hotel List will be updated to reflect the Westin's 4* rating. The Marriott Southfield is still a 3.5* on Priceline's retail side. Thanks for alerting us to the change, frenchmn. Happy Holidays to you too.
