I'm a big fan of FREE, and my following comment does not relate to your stay above, but you need to establish the value of "points" compared to what you might get by bidding or using HOTWIRE. For example, I could stay at a Hilton in Manhattan and this stay might cost me 40-50,000 points. If I could win this room for a $100 PRICELINE bid, I may want to keep my points in the bank. Same goes for airfare, a couple of years ago, it didn't make sense for me to use airline points to get tickets to Florida from the Northeast when Southwest had $49 airfares.
