it is completely dependant on the number of available rooms that the hotel has made available to PRICELINE for your dates of travel and your bid price. If the hotel has rooms and your bid is greater than the minimum acceptable price that the hotel will accept, then you will be successful. What area are you looking for? Do my chances of getting an accepted bid increase or decrease if I am booking 3 rather than 1 room?
For just a couple of rooms it's usually a non-event, but if it does affect the amount needed for a win, it's a negative influence since, as dahammer points out above, the hotel with the lowest price needs to be offering at least as many rooms as you are requesting.
