e_t Posted November 12, 2008 Report Posted November 12, 2008 Used PRICELINE link from this site.Wanted a car from downtown San Francisco due to the low taxes and fees, but no taker for up to $20Then tried SFO since I know there'll be easy. Tried economy and compact for $12 and $13 but no dice. Uped the offer to $15 for midsize, and got the Alamo. Total is $133.xx

Colfax Posted November 14, 2008 Report Posted November 14, 2008 Wanted a car from downtown San Francisco due to the low taxes and fees, but no taker for up to $20Tax/fees are lower in Union Square than at the airport but the base rental rates can be higher, sometimes MUCH higher.Checking your dates on Alamo's website I see an Alamo midsize for $103.67 plus tax/fee renting at SFO. The same car rented from Alamo's Union Square location is $299 plus tax/fee....almost triple the price!PRICELINE has been offering "Name Your Own Price" bidding in downtown SF for awhile now. I still haven't seen anyone report a winning bid downtown though.
