jasm Posted October 28, 2008 Report Posted October 28, 2008 Santa Monica 3.5*I'm a newbie here, would like to bid on Priceline, and am looking for 3 nights, 2 beds, in the 3.5* category (apparently Priceline does not offer higher in Santa Monica at this time), Nov. 13, 3 nights. It is important that the hotel be in Santa Monica.Any strategy advice?
Colfax Posted October 28, 2008 Report Posted October 28, 2008 Welcome to BetterBidding, jasm.Priceline doesn't have a Santa Monica zone; it's the Santa Monica-Marina Del Rey zone. To use Priceline you have to be willing to accept a hotel anywhere within the zone. You could win the 3.5* Marriott in Marina Del Rey.Also PRICELINE only guarantees double occupancy, which could be a room with one queen bed.If you require two beds then HOTWIRE will probably work better for you than Priceline as you can stipulate three adults on Hotwire and only be offered rooms with two beds. Also you can often identify hotels in advance of purchase on Hotwire, which will allow you to choose hotels in Santa Monica only. When you enter "3 adults" on Howtire for your dates do you see any options that are within your budget? If you'll post the icons someone will try and identify the hotels. Be sure to enter "Santa Monica, CA" as your destination on Hotwire, not "Los Angeles". For some odd reason Santa Monica hotels don't always show up on HOTWIRE when you enter "Los Angeles".
