Colfax Posted October 22, 2008 Author Report Posted October 22, 2008 I got the Grand Slam of Priceline rooms---a handicapped room (elevated toilet seat, metal bars on the wall) with an interior door connected to the room next door. On the other side it shared a common wall with an ice machine and two elevator shafts. Good view of the Oakland hills though! There was a continuous grinding sound coming through the wall, related to the elevator I think. As soon as I saw the room I went back downstairs to request another. I didn't mention the handicapped or connecting room angles; just the grinding noise. They said they couldn't move me as the hotel was sold out. I doubted that as I'd just won the hotel on Priceline less than 12 hours prior and the hotel didn't appear busy. I checked online then and what do you know...the Four Points really was sold out! In fact of the 21 Starwood hotels in the Bay area this was the ONLY hotel that was sold out.The handicap features weren't an issue. My next door neighbor turned out to be quiet. And while I was out eating that awful grinding sound, whatever it was, stopped and didn't come back. So the room turned out fine. I really think the hotel would have moved me if they could have and I won't avoid bidding 2.5* in this zone in the future, as overall I liked the Four Points.
