jazzlobster Posted October 12, 2008 Report Posted October 12, 2008 Hotwire lists a 3-star hotel in East Louisville and St. Matthews. The list here doesn't show a 3 star, but does have a 2.5* Ramada. Is it likely that this is the same hotel?
dahammer Posted October 12, 2008 Report Posted October 12, 2008 Welcome! Can you please post your dates of travel, the amount of the purchase, and the amenities associated with this property? thanks!

thereuare Posted October 13, 2008 Report Posted October 13, 2008 Welcome to BetterBidding! The amenities don't match what has previously been reported for the Ramada so it's unlikely that it is that hotel as there are too many inconsistencies with what has previusly been reported for that hotel. However, the star rating and amenities above do match the Breckinridge Inn so that would be our best guess. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.. jazzlobster Posted October 13, 2008 Author Report Posted October 13, 2008 Thanks for the reply and your expert guess! I would have suspected a 3 star to be a bit more upscale than the Breckenridge, which Hotels.com compares with Microtel and Baymont. If you're correct though, going through the usual suspects for that hotel (Orbitz for instance), I can get an "average" discounted price for my stay that's the same as the Hotwire price, and it's refundable.I've never dealt with hotwire before - is it common for them to have a rate that you can get on one of the more "open" sites?
thereuare Posted October 14, 2008 Report Posted October 14, 2008 Usually HOTWIRE offers a nice discount vs. a conventionally booked rate, but occaisionally the savings are not worth the unkown and non-cancellability factor, which is why it's important to research rates and know what constitues a good deal for your particulare dates.I'll add that there's only so much margin in a hotel room which goes for $50 thru conventional means, so there often isn't the opportunity to discount as much (then add on ~$7/nite as a book fee adn it instanctly adds 15% to the cost per nite... where as a more expensive hotel room the booking fee is the same ~$7/nite, but represents a much lower percentage of the total cost). This is one reason why the better values are often seen at the higher rated (and more expensive) hotels... it's easy to discount a $200/nite room than a $50/nite room. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. jazzlobster Posted October 19, 2008 Author Report Posted October 19, 2008 I've been trying to get one of the downtown hotels for a couple of weeks, budding up to $79 for a 3.5* with no success. Oddly, I've found postings from others who have successfully captured a 3.5* downtown for less than $50, so there must be a conference there that week. So, I started with 4* and 3.5* downtown, then added Louisville East, with no success. Since I need the room for next week I decided to bump the star rating to 3* and $47, and got the 3* Park Place. Not as close to downtown as I'd hoped, but it's still a rockin' deal.I bid using the betterbidding PRICELINE link.
