djohannw Posted July 17, 2004 Author Report Posted July 17, 2004 Absolutely...28 days and counting...;-)!Actually if I had not gotten this I would have booked a place inside Death Valley to spare me a 12 hour driving time day...but I just could not bear the thought of buying a hotel conventionally :).Greetings - Dirk
djohannw Posted August 29, 2004 Author Report Posted August 29, 2004 As Death Valley NP is still partially closed we today did a drive in the part that is open (3.5 hours one-way) and realligned our plans. This ment we needed to add another night for 8/29, but for three rooms this time.Bid the same amount (73$) but was counteroffered with 122$ (Hotwire had 109$ for three rooms), so reduced to two rooms, bid 73$ again by adding a non-Resort zone and got the same place again. Then tried to add the missing room through Priceline for 73$ - was counteroffered 122$ again. Hotwire now wanted 125$ for one room now, so we went with a senior rate through Hyatt.com at 84.50$ instead trying any further (the person the room is for is 67 years old so qualifies for the senior rate).Nice to stay here for another night, but I really had a hard time to give up my 0$-room (through "Best Rate Guarantee") at the Ramada Barstow. On the other hand: Who ever has been in Barstow knows we are not really missing anything by not staying there...;-)!Greetings - Dirk
