Colfax Posted October 9, 2008 Report Posted October 9, 2008 I didn't think I could win a 3.5* Downtown for $65!I figured I'd stay in the Airport zone where the 4* seem to go for around $55-$75 many nights. Hilton and Hyatt have free shuttles to the Airport T stop, so getting downtown from the Airport isn't difficult, and only costs $2. On Hotwire the cheapest hotel in any Downtown zone or Cambridge was a 2.5* in Back Bay for $109. Before bidding the Airport I tried one "Hail Mary bid" of $65 for 2.5* in three zones---Copley/Theater, Quincy/Faneuil, and Cambridge. To my surprise I was upgraded to the 3.5* Hilton Back Bay! Hilton's regular price was $199. Bid was placed about 9pm the night before stay.Used the PRICELINE link!
thereuare Posted October 9, 2008 Report Posted October 9, 2008 Congratulations on your win... always nice when surprises are to the upside! :)Boston can be a tricky hotel city, but your win is a good example of how rates can be very high one nite and relatively low for a stay just a few nites later.Thank you for sharing your win with the board and using our PRICELINE link for your bidding.Hope you enjoyed your stay.
