uhclem Posted October 5, 2008 Report Posted October 5, 2008 Bidding colleagues:I'm planning a trip to Toronto for me and my brother. I plan to arrive in Toronto one day earlier than he is--so I will need a room for 4 nights, and he will need one for 3. I was wondering if I can use priceline (or hotwire) to reserve two rooms, for the entire 4 nights, and have one room empty for one night. Should I put his name on the 2d room (even though he won't check in immediately), or should I (can I?) put my name down for both rooms.Any policy information would be welcomed!
powerplantop Posted October 5, 2008 Report Posted October 5, 2008 I have not been in this situation so I don't have experince but this is what I would try. On the priceline page for room one use your first name middle intial last name. On room two Use your first name no middle intial and last name. That way it looks like two reservations to the system. Then when you check in check into both and add your brother as an additional guest and explain the situation to the desk person. Then can then add a not to the reservation. Then if when arives and if your there he can still get a key.
uhclem Posted October 6, 2008 Author Report Posted October 6, 2008 Booked two rooms at this price. Started at $50 and rebid about 5 times before bid accepted at $70 (which was my max).Other internet booking ranged from $97 (Otel.com) to $172 (hotel website, Expedia and Orbitz)
thereuare Posted October 6, 2008 Report Posted October 6, 2008 Welcome to BetterBidding!Congratulations on your success and thank you for sharing it with the board. With PRICELINE there is no issue putting both rooms in one person's name. Then as powerplantop mentioned, upon checking in (to both rooms) add his name to one of the reservations and give the hotel permission to give him a key to the room upon his arrival.Just to comment for anyone else reading this thread in a similar situation, you would NOT put each room in the name of each guest, as the hotel has the right to release the reservation and treat one of the rooms as a "no show" when the guest didn't arrive on the check-in date... and the guest arriving first won't be able to check-in for them on the correct check-in date since the room is not in their name. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.Enjoy your stay.
