Priceline Hotel: 4* Berlin (East) Park Plaza Berlin

I bid $85 for a 4 star in Tiergarten-KuDamm, however, I "won" this hotel. Has this ever happened to anyone else? As best I can determine, it is in the east zone. I am sure I did NOT bid in the east as it is the furthest drive from where I live. Priceline sent a standard letter saying no refunds, but did not address the wrong zone issue. I would not have bid in this zone for a four star considering I can get a refundable reservation at the same price.

Any suggestions?

I am going to post my Munich bid in a moment, but I nearly bid the wrong zone because they did not appear on the page in the order I expected. I'm not sure if I have seen the zones in another order before, but I think so.

Could this have happened in your case?

I agree that getting the PPP is not a great deal in Berlin. I hope you can get some satisfaction with Priceline, but it will be hard to prove.

There is always the possibility I made a mistake, but I don't really think so.

I wrote to Priceline asking for a computer printout or some other verification that I made the mistake, not them. They sent me a copy of the contract, totally disregarding my request. I wrote and told them I was aware of the terms of the contract and had asked for proof that I had made the mistake. They responded with this:

Thank you for taking the time to send us an e-mail. We understand you still feel that the Hilton Key Largo Beach Resort is not within your selected area. You would like to cancel your this reservation. Our records indicate that we have previously advised you of our policiesregarding your reservation. We wish we could provide the answers you are looking for; however, thesepolicies are directly tied to contractual agreements with our travel partners. This in turn allows us to continue to offer competitive pricing and subsequent savings to our customers. We are truly unable to assist you further in this matter. Please do not expect a response to further correspondence on this issue. We apologize for any inconvenience and regret being unable to assist you further.

I am assuming that Priceline DOES make mistakes, since now they are assigning me a hotel in Key Largo, when I'll be in Berlin that weekend.

I certainly do not question that their contractual agreement does not allow them to not pay the hotel, but if they made the mistake, THEY need to pay the hotel, not me.

I asked them to send their physical address and the name of customer service VP, but I do not expect a response. I also assume they have not verfied the thousands and thousands of dollars I have paid them in the past three years and they do not mind losing a customer.

I agree if I made a mistake, I should take care of it. However, I am not convinced. Again, anyone have any suggestions? Should I post this somewhere else on the site?

you should call Priceline and insist in canceling as this is 1. not a 4* hotel 2. in eastern Berlin!! 3. too expensiv (in November prices are low esp. in that area (old East.Berlin!)

I heard that simular happned to someone in Bangkok and they canceled the reservation!

Try it first with custimer service then with executive service from homepage (investor relations, mangement) - stay friendly and refer always to your proof!

Good luck!

Rhine-and-Roses,

On your winning bid confirmation screen when they list the name of the hotel received and the location, what zone does it indicate the hotel is located in? (it should say so inbetween the hotel name and the address)

Also, what is the address shown?

The hotel is marked East Zone on the Priceline receipt.

I had done several other bids, which all appear in my "My Trips" in Priceline as not accepted. All were in KuDamm area. I still doubt I mistakenly checked the wrong box, but have not had a chance to call- been out of town for work. I'll let you know if I have any satisfaction.

Email PRICELINE and let them know that you didn't include the East zone in your bidding... they will then send you a screenshot of your bid submission screen indicating the zone was checked (or if not correct probably give you the option of cancelling)

I got the screen shot from them. It shows Tiergarten- KuDamm in big letters on the top line, then East underneath. I have to say the East is smaller, and it took me a second look to see it, but I guess I did accidentally add East on my bid. It is the only time East appears on any of the seven bids prior to that, so it was clearly an accident, but they are not budging. I'll be reading these with a magnifying glass in the future. I am really disappointed, but have learned my lesson! They did offer me some money back deal for any upcoming Priceline stays.

"Money back deal" is "cash bonus"

you can use it but remember:

- valid up to 5 nights but for 1 stay only (if you stay only 1 or 2 nights consume all 5 nights bonus with that win)

- you pay anyway the taxes and fees for the full amount, cash bonus given you to your original bid only

Aus Fehlern wird man schlau :)
