loz81 Posted October 1, 2008 Report Posted October 1, 2008 Hi I'm new to this site and I have to say after having a look around at all of the various topics I think it is great! I was wondering if anyone would be able to give me a bit of advice being a newbie? I am going to LA on 15th November for 7 nights in a party of four so I am looking at getting 2 rooms for 7 nights somewhere pretty central in LA. I've never been to LA before so I don't know what to expect with quality of hotels, or even where the best place to stay would be so I was going to opt for a 4* hotel to be on the safe side.I am looking at staying in Hollywood or Downtown LA, but I was hoping for some advice about what the best price to start bidding at in these areas? Ideally I don't really want to spend more than $100 per room but from looking on here I'm starting to think that may be a bit unrealistic.Does anyone have any advice about how much I should start bidding at or if I should go for a different area? I'm open to any suggestions really! Also I've noticed that most people who have reported back have only stayed in the hotels for a few days at a time. Do you think I will have problems booking with priceline for 7 days for 2 rooms?Any advice would be gratefully received. Thanks Loz
thereuare Posted October 1, 2008 Report Posted October 1, 2008 Welcome to BetterBidding!I don't think you're maximum bid is too far out of line and you have a decent chance at success (or not far from it).At the 4* level you have THREE re-bid zones available. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.Start with our link to PRICELINESelect 4* Downtown...Bid $60, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $65, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $70, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $75, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $80, if rejected close browser and use our link to re-access PRICELINESelect 4* Hollywood...Bid $60, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $65, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $70, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $75, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $80, if rejected close browser and use our link to re-access PRICELINESelect 4* Downtown and Hollywood...Bid $85, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $90, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $95, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $98, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $100Any questions feel free to ask. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.Good luck and let us know how it goes. loz81 Posted October 6, 2008 Author Report Posted October 6, 2008 Hi would anybody be able to help me identify a hotel I have found on hotwire please? slick_gd Posted October 6, 2008 Report Posted October 6, 2008 Does HOTWIRE list the tripadvisor traveler review rating for this hotel? If so, please list the traveler review rating, the # of reviews it is based on, and the date of the last review. This would help us in narrowing down the hotel.

Colfax Posted October 7, 2008 Report Posted October 7, 2008 This looks like the Best Western Marina Pacific Hotel in Venice. I didn't check TripAdvisor but the Best Western shows up in Hotwire Vacation Packages for those dates with the same amenities you listed. If you purchase please use this HOTWIRE link and let us know what you get.
thereuare Posted October 7, 2008 Report Posted October 7, 2008 The Tripadvisor information posted is also consistent so the Best Western Marina Pacific Hotel would be our best guess. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.Let us know how it goes or if we can be of further help.
