Traveler5555 Posted September 17, 2008 Report Posted September 17, 2008 Hi,My goal is to stay in a 4 or 5 star hotel in Palo Alto on 10.2. I am not sure if this is possible. Please help with some bidding guidance. Are other people hitting this target? Which hotels are coming up? What bidding strategy should I use?Thank you!
Colfax Posted September 17, 2008 Report Posted September 17, 2008 Priceline doesn't have a Palo Alto zone. It's Palo Alto-Mountain View. You could win a hotel anywhere in the zone, which might not be in Palo Alto. Also Priceline only offers up to 4* in Palo Alto.Let us know if you want to try for a 4* in Palo Alto-Mountain View and someone will offer a strategy.
Traveler5555 Posted September 17, 2008 Author Report Posted September 17, 2008 Yes, a 4* in Palo Alto-Mountain View would be great. Thank you!
thereuare Posted September 17, 2008 Report Posted September 17, 2008 At the 4* level you have FOUR re-bid zones. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.(NOTE: 're-bid zone1' is not the same as priceline's Zone1, 're-bid zone2' is not the same as priceline's Zone2, etc, etc)Select 4* Palo Alto...Bid $65, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $70, if rejected add re-bid zone2...Bid $75, if rejected add re-bid zone3...Bid $80, if rejected close browser and use our link to re-access PRICELINESelect 4* Palo Alto and re-bid zone4..Bid $85, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $90, if rejected add re-bid zone2...Bid $95, if rejected add re-bid zone3...Bid $100Any questions feel free to ask. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.Good luck and let us know how it goes. Traveler5555 Posted September 19, 2008 Author Report Posted September 19, 2008 Thank you for the insight. I understand the rebidding process. Can you advise me on which are the relevant re-bid zones to include?
thereuare Posted September 19, 2008 Report Posted September 19, 2008 As the re-bid zones can change at any time and should be checked before every bidding cycle, you need to know how check them yourself... we could post the zones now, they could change in an hour, and when you bid tonite you end up in area you didn't want. However, we'll take as much time as you need to know teach you how to check them on your own...List each zone in the area and the highest star rating available in each, using the following technique from Priceline Re-Bidding Explained:The way to check what star levels are available in each zone is to open a Priceline page, check ONLY the zone you are inquiring about, and then proceed to the next page (as if you were going to select a zone)... this will give you the available star ratings in that area. You can then hit BACK on your browser, uncheck the current box, check the next box, and repeat the process. It is important to do this before EACH attempt at adding a zone that you really don't want, as new hotels can be added and the star ratings can change at any time. (NOTE: for most users Priceline has updated their interface making the above process easier... simply check a zone and note the highest star rating available within each zone, UNcheck that zone and checkmark the next zone, repeating the process)We'll then confirm that you have the info correct or break it down further for you. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.
