fooman76 Posted September 15, 2008 Report Posted September 15, 2008 Looking to get out of NYC to take my girlfriend to Atlantic City just for a night. Neither of us are that into casinos, but would enjoy some R&R. The last time I was in AC was more than 10 years ago and the only thing I remember was that the areas outside of the boardwalk were pretty quiet or ghetto? The dates I'm we're thinking is 9/27 through 9/28 or the following weekend if rates are cheaper. Is it even possible to stay in the Atlantic City downtown/boardwalk area for under $100 a night? So far, I tried to bid Atlantic City - Downtown for $60 and $80 for 3 stars and both got rejected. Not looking for anything fancy. Just a place that's nice and clean and decent location. If less than $100 is unrealistic, then what other areas should I consider on Priceline that is still relatively safe? We'll have a car so staying away from the beach is an option provided that there is ample parking at the boardwalk. Would appreciate any tips or ideas. I just don't know where to start. Thanks.
dahammer Posted September 15, 2008 Report Posted September 15, 2008 since your stay is for a Saturday night and many of the casino hotels set aside most rooms for comp'ed players, the rates are very high. Hotwire has a 3* that for $309. What is your maximum budget for this stay? You may want to consider staying in Pleasantville or West Atlantic City where its possible to get something for under $100.
thereuare Posted September 15, 2008 Report Posted September 15, 2008 When you bid on PRICELINE you can end up on a hotel anywhere in the zone, so if you're not interested in staying off the boardwalk i wouldn't suggest using PRICELINE. (HOTWIRE could be an option if you can identify the property beforehand or be reasonably assured of the hotel you're purchasing)Also, it sounds as if you're going here for convenience and not necessarily to gamble... have you considered other locations? Assuming you chose AC due to easy bus service from the Port Authority, have you considered other destinations... there is very inexpensive bus service available from NYC to Washington DC, Boston, and Philadelphia to name a few which may provide alternatives for you to get away from Manhattan. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
