FrazierGA Posted September 11, 2008 Report Posted September 11, 2008 For several weeks I had been bidding on a 4* hotel on the South Strip for 11/9/08 - 11/12/08I would start at $55 (be given a counter offer of $77) and then use my two rebid zones (Nellis and Summerlin) to rebid at $60 and $65; my offers were never accepted. Because of winning bids in the past (including my own) for Planet Hollywood, I knew that Planet Hollywood would occasionally accept low bids (and I was specifically hoping to get Planet Hollywood since I have stayed there frequently in the past). I checked the Planet Hollywood website and noticed that the rates for my November dates were $179; the rates for the preceding Sun-Mon were $229; but the rates for the last Sunday-Wednesday in October were $149. Sooooooo . . . .I went to PRICELINE through the BettterBidding Link andBid $50 for 4* South Strip - Rejected - But counter-offer of $66 (I then knew that my chances of getting a room for around $60 were good)Added Nellis and bid $55 - rejectedAdded Summerlin and bid $59 - ACCEPTED
thereuare Posted September 12, 2008 Report Posted September 12, 2008 Congratulations on your win! You're actually very lucky on this win as Summerlin is not a re-bid zone when bidding 4* in Las Vegas and you could have ended upon in that area with your bidding above. While Summerlin does not have any 4* hotels, they do have Resort class properties there, and the star rating you select is the minimum you're willing to accept, so by including Summerlin your 4* bid could have been upgraded to a Resort class property... in Summerlin.Fortunately this didn't happen and no harm done, but important to know for your future bidding... hope you're luck is this good in Vegas :)Thanks for sharing your win with the board and using our PRICELINE link to begin your bidding.Enjoy your stay. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
FrazierGA Posted September 13, 2008 Author Report Posted September 13, 2008 Oops! From reading here, I knew about the Resorts "upgrade." but I simply failed to notice that Summerlin had that option. I am pretty sure that I have used that rebid in the past, but I will be much more careful in the future. Thanks again for the great service you provide in running this board.
