tyasa Posted August 5, 2008 Report Posted August 5, 2008 Hi, i'm still a beginner at PRICELINE...found this great website through searching...tried bidding for other cities n have yet to won anything...anyway...i'm planning to go to L.A. for 11/13 - 11/16....was wondering if it's too early to bid...my budget is around $100 max...can i get a 4* with that kind of budget? when should i try bidding...afraid that it might be too early to bid now...from other posters, it seems they get unbelievable deals from PL, but mostly are in the months of august...does anyone know if november a peak season for hotels in la? i'm trying to bid also for newyork, vegas, sf and honolulu but i'll post help request in the other categories...any advice for first time goer to la?i'm planning to rent a car, and will be visiting the areas around hollywood, if there's any advice to give for a couple of honeymooners on where to go in la, it'll be very appreciated :)
Colfax Posted August 6, 2008 Report Posted August 6, 2008 It's not too soon to bid if your travel dates are firm. If you have any doubt about your travel dates then wait as Priceline reservations are nonrefundable.Usually it takes more than $100 to win a 4* OR a 3* in Beverly Hills/West Hollywood or Hollywood zones but occasionally people get a 4* there in the $90's so it's worth trying to $100, for both a 4* and a 3*.
tyasa Posted August 6, 2008 Author Report Posted August 6, 2008 Hey thanx...will definitely bid once i've researched what's the possible 3/4* hotel in la...thank you for the reply...i might have to find a backup plan with my current budget too in the mean time while i'm bidding...thanx again
tyasa Posted August 27, 2008 Author Report Posted August 27, 2008 Hi guys, just want to share my recent win with the boardMarriot Downtown...started with $60...priceline offered to give me free rebid if i bid higher than $17....i refused...i add Lawndale (free rebid zone) $65 and got accepted by MarriotI'm so afraid of all the recent bad reviews on lots of hotels in L.A. especially the 4* like Westin Bonaventure in trip advisor so i didn't bid a 4* in downtown LAI did bid 4* in Beverly Hills and Hollywood from $70-105 n got refusedand i did bid 3* in Beverly Hills and Hollwood from $60-75 n got refused tooHope the info helps.Btw, i didn't really get good feedback on some of my question from the board in NY and Vegas...maybe it's because i'm new...but no hard feelings...i did get a lot of info even without everyone jumping to help in a specific topic created by me....great site...keep up the good job!oh i did use the link like 6-7 times just today rebidding in LA till i got it...anyone stayed in marriot? i'm going there for my honeymoon...thinking of taking the driving trip across hollywood, beverly hills, rodeo drive and sunset boulevard till santa monica bay...any specific really good stuff i shouldn't miss? how's driving from hotel to these locations? any traffic problems?
thereuare Posted August 27, 2008 Report Posted August 27, 2008 Congratulations on your win! (and upcoming wedding :) )Glad to hear you're happy with the results and looking forward to your stay.I'll take a look at your NYC and Vegas stays now... sometimes we get new users who come and post regarding multiple trips, get the help/info they need, and then never follow-up on any of their stays, so sometimes we wait for one stay to be resolved before moving onto the next. Thanks for sharing your win with the board and for using our PRICELINE links to begin your bidding.Enjoy this leg of your stay. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
