Hi - We are looking to try & get the 4* Mystic Marriott for 8/26 for 2 nights checking out 8/28....havent seen any wins for this time frame. we live in CT and are just looking to spend a few days down near the shore - yes we fully realize we may have no shot at winning this hotel as it is still peak season, but we can adjust where we want to go very easily if we dont win this - when I look on Quickbook and the Marriott site the rooms are running approx 280.00 per night. Looking for bidding strategy to try & win the 4*.Working on not much sleep here, so if I leave out something let me know...Want to only try for the 4* at this point - looks as though I have quite a few "re-bid" zones to use when I just looked at Priceline thru the link on this site - its still a few days away, so if we dont suceed now we MAY up our limit on how much we want to bid in the next few days if we still decide to do CT. We may just change the state completely & do R.I. instead - feel free to let me know if you think our limit is unrealistic & I can probably figure out how to adjust the bid$$ if needed. Also if I do a bid and I am unsuccessful for Mystic, do I still have to wait 24 hrs to rebid for a completely different state but want the same dates??? Thanx for any help you can provide....

8/26 for 2 nights

4* only for now in Groton (only zone I see w/ 4*'s)

max bid $130.00....is this unrealistic??? should I be higher (or is it possible I might win w/ a lower max??? any input would be appreciated)

Love this site & of course I will use the PRICELINE link as always....Alison

The Marriott Mystic has been the only reported 4* win in the Niantic - Norwich - Mystic (Groton) zone and there is always a slight chance that you could end up reporting a new property. The great thing about bidding for a 4* in this area is there are 7 rebid zones and you have 28 bidding opportunities by adding rebid zones. You could start at $75 and increase your bids 27 more times up to your maximum $130. With some schools starting next week, you may be lucky having a low bid accepted.

thanks in advance for using this PRICELINE link when you proceed.

then again, there's a Marriott in Newport RI :)

At the 4* level you have six re-bid zones. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.

(NOTE: 're-bid zone1' is not the same as priceline's Zone1, 're-bid zone2' is not the same as priceline's Zone2, etc, etc)

Select 4* Groton...

Bid $75, if rejected add re-bid zone1...

Bid $80, if rejected add re-bid zone2...

Bid $85, if rejected add re-bid zone3...

Bid $90, if rejected add re-bid zone4...

Bid $95, if rejected add re-bid zone5...

Bid $100, if rejected close browser and use our link to re-access PRICELINE

Select 4* Groton and re-bid zone6...

Bid $105, if rejected add re-bid zone1...

Bid $110, if rejected add re-bid zone2...

Bid $115, if rejected add re-bid zone3...

Bid $120, if rejected add re-bid zone4...

Bid $125, if rejected add re-bid zone5...

Bid $130

Any questions feel free to ask.

Thanx for the help - I just have a few things I am unclear about....forgive me if I am just not thinking about this clearly - no sleep & just moved son back to college today - way tooooo much stimulation for me!!!!

O.K. - "Dahammer" - I am not seeing 27 bidding possibilities in the bidding strategy Thereuare has given - am I missing something I am not understanding? I see him using the initial Groton zone to start & then using 5 of the 6 zones left as rebid zones in the first part - then he uses the Groton & the 6th rebid zone to be able to reaccess PRICELINE link & continue on with the rebid zones again.....

Thereuare - the one part of your post I am not sure I understand is where you talk of rebid zone 1 not being the same as priceline's zone 1 etc...etc....The way I have "found" which zones are rebid zones is to find my 1st choice zone (which in this case is Groton which has the 4*) then I uncheck Groton & recheck each of the remaining zones that are listed one at at time & see what other zones have a 4* in them (which in this case is none) & then I know I cannot use them as a rebid zone as I could win something out of my wanted zone - am I still using the correct logic??? it has worked for me in my other wins or was I just LUCKY because I am thinking & doing this wrong?? any clarification either of you could provide on these two questions would be great - thanx again for your time & effort you provide on this site....

yes I realize I could end up with a previosly unreported 4* win, but hey thats life & maybe I'll end up with another 4* to report!!!!

You're doing it correctly... since PRICELINE started using their interactive maps, the zones are numbered by PRICELINE, and if you hover your mouse over a zone in the list on the left side of the page the corresponding zone (with the same number associated with it) becomes highlighted on the map. We're simply trying to avoid confusion that what PRICELINE lists as "zone 1" (the first zone in the list) is not the same as "re-bid zone1"

So in your particular situation, when we say "re-bid zone1" we're refering to your first re-bid zone and NOT the zone priceline has labeled "zone 1" (which is your situation is Groton).

Hope that clarifies it a bit.

Hi again - decided to just go for it with the suggested bidding strategy - the way I had done it in the past with the "rebid" zones had worked before - anyhow I adusted my maximum for the last 2 bids as I wasnt having any luck till then - so my last 2 bids were as follows: 130.00 - rejected - last bid upped it to 150.00 & was accepted!!!

Marriott Mystic Hotel & Spa

625 North Road Route 117

Groton, CT 06340

offer:150.00 accepted

1 room

2 nights

$300.00

taxes/fees: $48.84

total: $348.84

Cheapest I saw this hotel this morning was on Expedia for $249.00 per night so given this is still peak season I am very happy with this win!!!! Hopefully the link to PRICELINE thru this site went thru - for some reason my computer is acting a little weird this morning.....Thanx soooo much again for the time & effort you all take to maintain this site - cant wait to hang on the shore for some ocean fishing & seafood eating!!!! O.K. - "Dahammer" - I am not seeing 27 bidding possibilities

I was wrong, when bidding for Groton at the 4* level, there are a total of 64 bidding opportunities using Groton and a combination of the 6 rebid zones.
