Priceline Hotel: 3* Niantic-Norwich-Mystic (Norwich-Uncasville) Holiday Inn Norwich

I am interested in all of the 2.5 and 3 hotels below. I have not used this website in probably 3 years or so, and i can't remember how to use the redbids, and I spent about 30 minutes last night trying to learn how to do it, and couldn't find the thread that explains how to do it. I am probably most interested in the Holiday inn as it is closest to Mohegan Sun, and past wins mentioned here and on tripadvisor seem pretty cheap. If that hotel is too expensive it seems that the Hilton can be won for pretty cheap. What is the game plan? I would probably be doing the bidding tonight or tomm night. Thanks for the help!

Niantic - Norwich - Mystic (Ledyard (Mashantucket) - Mystic)

2.5* Amerisuites (which is now a Hyatt according to tripadvisor)

2.5* Hilton Mystic (previously 3*)

2.5* Residence Inn

Niantic - Norwich - Mystic (Norwich - Uncasville)

3* Holiday Inn Norwich

Welcome back.

The link on re-bidding is located here: Priceline Re-Bidding Explained

You're not going to target any specific property with PRICELINE. If you're trying to target, or avoid, a particular hotel then HOTWIRE may be a better option.

If you still want to bid via PRICELINE, what is your maximum bid for this stay? Are you willing to bid both of the zones above? The Amerisuites is likely now a Hyatt Place (which is a different brand than a 'full-blown' Hyatt)

lets pretend i go for the 3* holiday inn in Norwich. I would have 3 rebid zones right? and if i bid for the 2.5's in mystic area then i have 2 rebid zones i guess???

I read through what seemed like the most important parts in the thread called bidding again before 24 hours. I am not understanding the closing of the browser thing.

Bids in the $50's would be great, but i'd be willing to go higher, anything in this ballpark would still be cheaper than booking through a regular travel website.

I would only try to be avoiding hotels in other zones. Don't think its an issue with the 2 zones i have an interest in.

Going to bed now, so I will catch up on this tommorow evening. Once again thanks for the help, I have a dog now which is why i havn't bid on anything in awhile since these sites can't guarantee dog friendly, and other hotels i've booked over the last couple of years were for my honeymoon and through travel packages through airlines. I havn't forgot about your wonderful site.

At the 3* level you actually have FOUR re-bid zones. Also, a reminder that you're not bidding on just the Holiday Inn, but rather any 3* hotel in this zone. (we don't see much bidding in this zone so there could always be other, not yet reported, properties)
and if i bid for the 2.5's in mystic area then i have 2 rebid zones i guess???
Correct.

Let us know if you now see four re-bid zones at the 3* level... if not feel free to ask any questions you have and we'll go thru it step by step.

Let us know how you'd like to proceed and we'll advise accordingly.

Ok i see the 4 rebid zones, i guess i couldnt count last night. I'd say that it makes the most sense to go for the Norwich area where the 3* Holiday inn is. I realize there might be other hotels in this area, but from I see, if I win any of those other hotels that may be considered 3*'s in this area, they actually may be nicer than the Holiday inn, it seems like a good chance to take in my mind. Plus the point of my trip is to go to Mohegan Sun, and this area is closer to the casino than the mystic area, and i get 4 rebid zones, not 2.

My question about not understanding the opening and closing the browser wasn't answered, is that something we are going to discuss when i do my actual bidding.

I am ready to go whenever you are! Please tell me how I should bid in this area. Oh yeah, i think we have plenty of time, so if we get locked out for 24 hours from bidding too low, i don't think its the end of the world.

Thanx!

At the 3* level you have four re-bid zones. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.

(NOTE: 're-bid zone1' is not the same as priceline's Zone1, 're-bid zone2' is not the same as priceline's Zone2, etc, etc)

Select 3* Norwich-Uncasville...

Bid $35, if rejected add re-bid zone1...

Bid $40, if rejected add re-bid zone2...

Bid $45, if rejected add re-bid zone3...

Bid $50, if rejected close browser and use our link to re-access PRICELINE

Select 3* Norwich-Uncasville and re-bid zone4...

Bid $55, if rejected add re-bid zone1...

Bid $60, if rejected add re-bid zone2...

Bid $65, if rejected add re-bid zone3...

Bid $70

Any questionsl free free to ask.

I got it! I tried to figure out how to change the subject so I could properly post the information, but couldn't figure it out, I suppose you have the authority to do so.

Here are the details.

3* Norwich Uncacville CT Holiday Inn Norwich 10/12/08-10/13/08 $50

I didn't get far enough to need it, but why wouldn't i have used the 4th rebid and instead close the browser and start over. I am definitly not understanding something when it involves closing the broswer. Wouldn't I have to wait 24 hours(or 72 in the old days) if i quit bidding???

And of course i used the PRICELINE links!

Is there any way to tell the hotel that i would prefer a King Bed Non-smoking room?

Thanks for all your help. And now when i book future travel i will use the support/travel links tab(now that i know that all those links are there), when not using priceline or hotwire.

Congratulations on your win!

Glad to hear of your success and that you got a great deal on the hotel you were hoping for, which should work well for your plans.

If you had added re-bid zone4 before closing the browser then your future bids would have been viewed as duplicates (since they would have been viewed as a subset of your previous bids... you can't bid Zone1+Zone2 and then later bid just Zone2 since it's a subset of your first bid)

Thank you for sharing your win with the board and for using our PRICELINE link to begin your bidding.

Enjoy your stay.
