thereuare Posted August 1, 2008 Report Posted August 1, 2008 Welcome to BetterBidding!I want to find a hotwire match to know the hotel and then see how I can use that for priceline bidHow will knowing the hotel help you with your PRICELINE bid? The hotel that HOTWIRE is offering won't necessarily the be the one you win via PRICELINE.Also, how many people are in your family and how many rooms do you intend to purchase? PRICELINE only guarantees double ocupancy and you could receive a hotel with only one bed... HOTWIRE on the other hand allows you to search for up to quad occupancy and guarantees that there will be enough sleepingn accomodations for everyone you include on your search. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. santourist Posted August 1, 2008 Author Report Posted August 1, 2008 In this particular instance, the intersection of 4* properties in "coastal" are 2-3 - Hyatt Regency, Hilton and one other and none of them are offered at a good price on HOTWIREThanks for your caution on the number of beds - We are 2 adults, one < 9 and a 1 yr old
bubble gum Posted August 1, 2008 Report Posted August 1, 2008 Just wanted you to know that the Hyatt Regency is offering a promotion for the time u will be there- its called sunshine on sale and it offers the fourth night free. You might want to look into that.
thereuare Posted August 2, 2008 Report Posted August 2, 2008 santourist,Did you check the promotion offered above? Is the price any good?If you're still looking to bid this stay via PRICELINE, what are the actual dates of your stay and what is your maximum bid? (i'm still not sure i understand your line of thinking above in trying to figure out the hotel on HOTWIRE before bidding on PRICELINE)Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. santourist Posted August 4, 2008 Author Report Posted August 4, 2008 We decided to stay at Hyatt Regency La Jolla - our friends in SD recommend this for the location and serviceTHe best rate I can get from the hotel website rounds out to $1200 for 6 nights at AAA rate - this includes free breakfast for 2 adultsI used the HOTWIRE link and I see a quote of $189/nite+tax/fees that rounds out to about $1300 (no breakfast)I think with a PRICELINE bid, I may be able to get the hotel for about $900 (assume a max 125/nite bid + tax/fees) - that + breakfast @25/day for 2 adults means I may save about $150 for the whole trip - dunno if this is worth the anonymity
thereuare Posted August 4, 2008 Report Posted August 4, 2008 If you want the Hyatt thin i think you should stick with the deal you have... too many other options in the Coastal zone at the 4* level for which you could receive something other than the Hyatt.Glad you found something which meets your needs and budget.Enjoy your stay.
