dsm Posted July 27, 2008 Report Posted July 27, 2008 Daughter is staying at USF. Bidding USW & USE 4* & 3* up to $115. No joy.1st time in SF. Is travel from airport hotel inconvenient? Expensive? Any other ideas are welcome. I'd prefer to stay closer to USF.
Colfax Posted July 27, 2008 Report Posted July 27, 2008 Welcome to BetterBidding, dsm.USF (not to be confused with UCSF, a different university also in SF) is near Golden Gate Park. USF isn't in any Priceline zone but Cathedral Hill is probably closest. The Cathedral Hill hotels still aren't walking distance to USF though. Whether you stay in Cathedral Hill or a Union Square zone you'll still need to take a cab or bus to USF.You can take BART from the Airport to Union Square for $5.25, take a cab for about $40, or take a shared shuttle for around $16-20.Unfortunately things look tight for your dates, which are this coming Friday and Saturday nights. Hotwire has no availability in 3 of their 4 Downtown zones, and in Union Square East they only have one option, a 4* at $209.If you want a 3* or 4* in Union Square you'll need to bid higher than $115 on Priceline. If you don't want to spend more than $115 then consider bidding for a 2.5* or 3* on Cathedral Hill, where hotels usually cost less than Union Square. Cathedral Hill is less convenient than Union Square for using BART, but if you're taking a cab or shuttle from the airport then transportation cost is about the same as to Union Square. Please use this PRICELINE link when you bid. Let us know if you have other questions.
AaronJB Posted July 27, 2008 Report Posted July 27, 2008 If you visit the link below (a non-refundable Starwood 20% off 2 nights deal) and search for San Francisco for your dates, there should be an option for the Westin St. Francis. Choose that and one of the room options should be a "no view" room for $175.Stay 2 nights, get 20% offIf you want a room with a view at the same hotel, head to Orbitz.com and search for the Westin St. Francis. There should be an option for a "Grand Deluxe Bay and City View" for $219. Use the coupon code SUMMERFAM for 10% off per night, bringing the total down to $197.10
