MSB Posted June 30, 2004 Report Posted June 30, 2004 Hotwire has a *2.5 hotel in Victoria, BC for $51. It only shows a spa -nothing else. All the spa hotels I could find also had a restaurant or a pool.Does anyone know what this could be??? Thanks
WillTravel Posted June 30, 2004 Report Posted June 30, 2004 A while back I went through Expedia and looked for the lowest-cost hotel that has a spa. That is Chateau Victoria. I have no idea if that is what Hotwire is offering, but it was my only way to guess.
thereuare Posted June 30, 2004 Report Posted June 30, 2004 I don't know what hotel this is and i don't think it's possible to make an educated guess either.I'm assuming that this property does have other amenities besides a Spa, in which case i would ask: "Why are you even bothering participating with Hotwire?"Nobody is going to buy an unknown hotel that only shows a Spa icon unless they are desperate. Ask this hotel about Hotwire and i'm guess they something like, "Yeah, we tried it but we didn't get any business from it." WillTravel Posted June 30, 2004 Report Posted June 30, 2004 I've considered getting this hotel because of how Hotwire draws their Victoria zone as compared to Priceline. Given I tend to go for budget options anyway, the spa or lack thereof wouldn't make much difference. So this would be a good choice if you have to choose between budget options on Priceline vs. Hotwire.
MSB Posted June 30, 2004 Author Report Posted June 30, 2004 I also thought it might be the Chateau Victoria, but this has a nice indoor pool. Could it possibly be the Seaside Luxury Resort and Spa?
WillTravel Posted June 30, 2004 Report Posted June 30, 2004 Just because a pool isn't listed doesn't mean this hotel doesn't have one. If the Seaside one is in the zone, it's a possibility also.thereuare - isn't it Hotwire's decision as to which icons to show, not the hotel's?
MSB Posted June 30, 2004 Author Report Posted June 30, 2004 Just did a hotwire weekend package as a test and the "Dominion Grand Hotel" came up as the 2.5* with a spa......Just read some reviews on trip advisor and I think I will take a pass.
WillTravel Posted June 30, 2004 Report Posted June 30, 2004 Oh! Good thinking. I bet that Dominion Grand is the one.I stayed there a few years ago and was happy enough with it, but I know a lot of people would not be.My daughter really likes that location, as it is in the immediate vicinity of two movie theatres, an arcade, an English sweets shop, a favored Vietnamese restaurant, and a dollar store. If someone wants the Dominion Grand, they often have cheap packages on their web site.
thereuare Posted July 1, 2004 Report Posted July 1, 2004 Just to not leae an 'open question' in this thread... "yes, the hotel chooses what amenity icons to show." Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
WillTravel Posted July 1, 2004 Report Posted July 1, 2004 Good to know, thereuare. This hotel (as now confirmed on another thread) really doesn't have any amenities beyond the spa, so it might be a realistic choice.
thereuare Posted July 1, 2004 Report Posted July 1, 2004 My apologies to their management :) Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
