Good price considering long weekend.

Hotwire shows it now at $53 but just a couple days ago it was $30 (!). Reno seems to be one of those unusual places where hotwire sometimes has better prices (plus PL's $40 min for a 4* makes things difficult).

I wonder if the hotels 'know' about Priceline's minimum bid levels and if they don't, lose revenue as a result since their hotels would always be won on a higher bid than they load into the system (except where the users is upgraded from a lower star level).

Thanks for posting.

I'd think that if a hotel cared about this, it would have two Priceline rates: one at whatever its minimum is and one at $40 (in the case of a 4* with a Priceline rate below $40). That way the hotel, rather than PL, could capture the extra revenue from people bidding 4* and still be available as an upgrade to those bidding less than $40 for 3* or lower.

(I am assuming there isn't something in the contract between PL and the hotel that would otherwise prevent this, such as a minimum interval between rates.)
