tleev Posted July 14, 2008 Report Posted July 14, 2008 I'm trying to win the Laguna Cliffs Marriott, which is a 4-star in Dana Point, CA. I know that using PRICELINE to try to get a specific hotel is ludicrous, but I am fairly confident in this in that it is the only 4 star in Dana Point, and it is not sold out on my dates. I have seen other winning bids on this forum, so I am keeping my fingers crossed. My travel dates are Saturday, August 30--Wednesday, September 3, 2008. My current bid history looks like this:Selected 4*Dana Point-San Clemente ...Bid $110, rejected, added re-bid Laguna Hills-Mission ViejoBid $120, rejected.Closed browser and re-started bid (because I needed to look at something else on PRICELINE and was too lazy to open a new browser).Selected 4* DP-SC + AHBid 125, rejected, added re-bid LBBid 130, rejected, added re-bid LH-MVBid 135, rejected, added re-bid Seal Beach,Bid 140, rejected, added re-bid FBBid 145. Final bid rejected.I realize that I am still a ways out re: dates, so I'm just hoping to keep on trying as much as I can. Do you have any recommendations for me? I'm thinking my maximum is $160 or so, is that reasonable? Others have gotten $151 for the same hotel, but not sure what the rack rate was at that time. The rack rate for August 30 is $269.00, the rack rate for the other nights is $229.00 a night (per their website at www.lagunacliffs.com). Should I just change my plans to come on Sunday instead or try to win the whole time closer to the dates? Thanks for the help!
Colfax Posted July 15, 2008 Report Posted July 15, 2008 It's likely that Saturday night either has a higher PRICELINE rate than the other nights or that Saturday night isn't available on Priceline at all.You could bid Sunday, Monday, Tuesday. Then if you're accepted try Add a Night for Saturday night. You'll either be offered Saturday at a higher price that you can accept or reject, or you'll be told that the hotel has no PRICELINE availability on Saturday.
