a marathon bidding session for a same day stay, I unsuccessfully bid up to $109 for a 3* and $85 for a 2.5*. I knew that this Ramada was "out there" and the rack rate was around $100.

not much of a savings off the rack rate, but it is a solid 2* property, a little worn around the edges with free WiFi and free coffee in the lobby. There is no restaurant. Its located right off the Garden State Parkway and although the website mentions that its 30 minutes from NYC, you would have to start your trip around 3 AM to match this time. This is about as convenient as the Holiday Inn (formerly Radisson) in Saddle Brook. I asked for and received a non smoking room with two queens. Made by bid through the PRICELINE links on the board.

There is a brand new Courtyard in this zone (on Rte 17 between Century Rd and Midland Ave) which has not yet been reported to the board, but if they participate wtih PRICELINE, this may be the new 'want' hotel in this area... time will tell.
