chaosman
I am so furious right now because this is not what i wanted. I wanted Venetian or Palazzo, and based on the rates people have been getting during the week at $139 i bid that ammount and it went through. However i ended up with Trump Towers =( I called PRICELINE and told them i entered the wrong dates so they offered to cancel and refund only half of it. If i want a full refund i have to redo the dates. So i want Venetian or Palazzo for 06/17/08-06/19/08 and willing to pay up to $160 a night for each. How do i bid again and make sure i dont get the trump towers? Thanks Link to comment
thereuare
Welcome to BetterBidding! You can't bid on PRICELINE and target, or avoid, a particular hotel. The deep discount you receive is in exchange for only being able to choose the zone and minimum star rating. If there is a particular hotel you're trying to avoid, or target, HOTWIRE may be a better option. However, for a 2 nite stay, unless you've never been to Vegas, i would consider keeping the Trump... reviews have been very good and i would give it a try before taking the cancellation "hit". My .02Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.Let us know what you ultimately do if you make any changes. chaosman
thanks for the help. But the trump towers has been targeted for a much "older" crowd. Since my group is 21+ we would rather be somewhere with younger crowd and a casino. I have tried calling venetian to bargain with PRICELINE prices but they wont budge. Can i call to priceline and complain that trump isnt on the strip? What else is left to do? Link to comment
Diamond Dog
Honestly. It's called the North Strip area and it includes a map.A)Did you look at the map before booking and, more to the point, B)does the hotel fall within the area the map signifies?I'm guessing the answers are:A ) NoB ) YesYou got what you paid and asked for. Move on. Link to comment
chaosman
I'm going to eat the fees but its a lesson to be learned from this, PRICELINE is not always the best. Link to comment

chaosman
true, but they usual give 1 exception per account from what im told. I am still getting stiffed half the reservation. $180 ish dollars is alot to just throw away in these hard times. One way or another i'll get them back though =) Link to comment

Thinking about it in any other terms than that is a bit immature. Link to comment
dahammer
One way or another i'll get them back though =)Revenge is a dish best served cold....the best way to recoup your loss is to save $$ through bidding on a future trip. Maybe you should check out the Hard Rock, the rates average about $600 per night for your dates of travel. :) Have you checked HOTWIRE? You may also want to check BetterBidding's Priceline and Hotwire Priceline and Hotwire Calendar of Wins to see other winning bids for this area. Finally, you can check several hotel rates using the board's Hotel Checker. Good luck and please post a follow up to what ever you did for this trip, don't be discouraged, PRICELINE has allowed me to stay in Hilton's, Hyatt's and Marriotts for the price of a Super 8 or EconoLodge. :) Link to comment
chaosman
Well looks like i came out on top at the end! I just got a Suite at the palms place for $179 a night. 1200sq ft, 2 plasmas, kitchen, fireplace, 1 king 1 queen bed. Free pool cabana, free spa passes, free clubpasses. Right on the front page of palmsplace.com =) Link to comment
HighRoller
And way off the strip.....I'm an unmarried, 29 year-old, so it isn't like I am elderly, but I would take the Trump over the Palms any day of the week and twice on Sundays. Palms is off the strip, over rated, and very dirty. Great for the kids, I guess, who want/need low table limits and some semblence of a "scene". Personally that is what I hang at the MGM resorts ON THE STRIP for. Link to comment
chaosman
I dont want to change threads here but the Trump Hotel is no good for 21-30 year olds. No casino, no clubs, pool quality unknown. All the reviews say trump hotel is much older crowd, and costs money to park there and the food is a grip. Palms Place just opened, is new, clean, and since they are condos many of them are private so you know the whole area will be well kept. And off strip is no problem, only time i would leave the hotel is to go to a different club. If i stayed at the trump the only time i would be at my hotel is to sleep because thats all they have to do there. Link to comment
goldendeal
Both hotels have positive reviews on tripadvisor, Trump Hotel seems to have a bit better reviews but both have very good reviews. All depends on what you want. I would be satisfied with either. Just a place to crash is all Link to comment

goldendeal
I was refering to the hotel, not the room. Theres nothing to do at trumps hotel other than sleepI usually stay in a condo when I go, I dont limit myself to one casino/hotel..too much to see and do, to hang out at one hotel. I go where the action is,,or best pool or best buffetJust rent you one of those little scooters and tear up the strip... Link to comment
shelbyg75
I just got back from our Priceline stay at the Trump. I was in Vegas 6/4-6/8. The first night was business and we were at the Palm. The rest of the weekend (3 nights) we were at the Trump. I got it through Priceline fo $155 a night.Let me say this hotel is awesome!!! It is extremly plush and the service is great! For me it was actually a plus not to have the casino and for it to be nonsmoking... It was about 3 mins to walk to the Wynn and maybe 5-7 mins to get to the Palazzo and the Venetian. To me this was perfectly acceptable. The restaurant in the Trump as our splurge dinner for the trip and the food and service was great!! The rooms a big and the bathrooms are marble with an enormous walk in shower and a jacuzzi tub and even a TV recessed in the mirror. Nightly turndown service was done with Jazz music on the radio and chocolate truffles on the bed for when you get back from your late night out... The pool is great! Not a huge resort pool but just a nice long rectangular pool. They have a grill out there and offer some restaurant food as well as burgers/dogs/chicken from the grill... The staff walk through peridoically with treats... ice cold towels, sliced watermelon, sushi... My husband and I are both 30 years old and we loved it. Everyone we talked to at the pool (some young, some older) loved the hotel. Our cabbie back to the airport asked us what we thought of the hotel... he said he's never picked anyone up from there that gave it less than an 8 out of 10... I wasn't sure what to expect and was initally a little sad we had gotten the Trump (was expecting the Palazzo or Venetian)... but I would now say I'd love to go back there and stay there again!!
