Hotwire Hotel: 3* Santa Monica/Marina Del Ray

My dates are July 24-27 and the only amenities showing are beachfront and a pool for $189/night.

I've looked through the hotwire list and nothing is listed with beachfront for that star rating.

This is a tough one because the 3* hotel doesn't show up in Hotwire Vacation Packages and Hotwire didn't provide the hotel's TripAdvisor ratings. Those are the two main clues we use to identify hotels. And the icons don't add much because almost any oceanfront hotel will also have a pool.

All that said my best guess would be the Best Western Jamaica Bay Inn in Marina del Rey, which is $209 for your dates.

If that hotel interests you you could purchase it for Thursday night alone (Thursday alone is $179 vs $189 for all three nights), and if you like what you get then purchase the same hotel for Friday and Saturday in a separate transaction.

However the Hotwire discount is so shallow in this case ($189 vs $209) that I would probably book the hotel conventionally. The small savings don't really compensate for the "mystery factor", especially after Hotwire's service fee. But if I'm wrong about the ID and this turns out to be one of the hotels charging over $300 that night, then it's a good deal after all.

Did you notice that Hotwire also has a 3.5* in Santa Monica for $149? That looks like the Sheraton Delfina. Near ocean, but not oceanfront.

Thank you for your advice! I may use your tip and try just the 1 night and see what happens. I did see the Delfina but we would really like oceanfront if possible but that might be a good alternative. Thanks again.
