bostonguy Posted May 27, 2008 Report Posted May 27, 2008 Check-In Date: Friday, May 23, 2008 Check-Out Date: Monday, May 26, 2008Hotel Name: Delta Montreal 475 President Kennedy Avenue Montreal, Quebec H3A 1J7 514-286-1986 1st Bid: $68 - Rejected2nd Bid: $70 - AcceptedI was hoping for Hyatt, but got Delta. I've stayed at both places before and I like Hyatt far better. With a good post I saw about Delta somewhere here, I did what they did and called a day before to make sure they have 2 beds for us since we have 4 people. The lady on the phone said there ARE PLENTY of rooms with 2 Queens, and that we'll get a room with two Queens for us. That post said that Delta folks didn't make them feel bad about being a priceline customer. So, although I was sad that I didn't get Hyatt, I was feeling better about it.However, story was different once I got there. At the check-in, the guy at the desk told me I have a room with 1 King-size bed. And I clarified to him that I called yesterday to ensure that we get 2 Queens. And he recognized that there WAS a note or a message left in the computer system by another co-worker that said to try to give us 2 Queens. BUT (this is where I got pissed) he pulled out a PRICELINE guideline paper which was put in a plastic cover (they must use this a lot) which states that Priceline only guarantees a room for 2 people. I told him that I read all that and knew the rules, but explained to him that I called ahead and the person on the phone ensured that they will give me a room with 2 Queens because there were apparently a lot of rooms available. "Doesn't that mean anything?" I asked. Then once again, this guy at the desk kept pulling this priceline guideline out to make sure that I am well aware that I AM A PRICELINE customer and they don't have a room for me with 2 Queens... And then he said that he can upgrade my room to a room with 2 Queens with $20/night extra to get it, which was the room that they promised me the night before. It was like talking to a wall! All he did was pull out this priceline guideline paper in plastic cover to my face... And the lady co-worker next to him seemed to enjoy watching me suffer as if she found her co-worker funny or charming. It only reconfirmed why I loved Hyatt better and felt nervous about Delta. I know some of you had a good experience at Delta, so maybe I was unlucky, but I don't think my first time at Delta was any better 3 years ago. And this time, it totally ruined my experience.I've been to HYATT 4 times and every single time was a great experience. Please bid carefully to get HYATT. I don't know how you can do that... but I hope Priceline stop doing business with Delta, or demote them to 2 * hotel instead of listing them as 3 *. So I paid $20/night more, but with tax and all... I basically got Delta for little more than $110/night at the end.

dahammer Posted May 28, 2008 Report Posted May 28, 2008 Sounds like this insignificant gatekeeper took a power trip at your expense! I would get the name of the hotel general manager and the name of the chief executive for the company that owns the property and send a letter requesting a refund of $20 plus tax. You've basically written the letter already so copy, paste, edit and mail or email and save postage. You have nothing to lose and maybe the clerk will get a reminder to treat guests better.
