My wife and I were trying to get 4* for this weekend using Priceline in zone 3 (Downtown). We had $100 rejected and then bid $90 on a 3 star, which was accepted.

Welcome to BetterBidding!

Congratulations on your win and thank you for sharing it with the board.

This is the Holiday Inn at 4875 NORTH HARBOR DRIVE, which if correct, is an interesting win since the Holiday Inn website shows no availability for your dates above (not unheard of but certainly more the exception than the rule)

Looking at Priceline's San Diego zone maps it appears to me the Holiday Inn Bayside (4875 North Harbor Drive) is in the Point Loma/Shelter Island zone, not the Downtown zone. Holiday Inn on the Bay (1355 North Harbor Drive) is in the Downtown zone.

I don't know if Priceline changed their zone boundaries since Schuey10's report, or if the two hotels got confused due to their very similar names---"Bayside" vs "On the Bay".

Anyhow today HI Bayside is Downtown and HI On the Bay is in Point Loma/Shelter Island.

Keeping track of Holiday Inn's in San Diego isn't easy. There are a lot of them, many have similar names, and a number of them are very close to their zones' boundary lines. Another example: Holiday Inn Sea World and Holiday Inn Express Sea World are just a couple blocks from each other. But the HI is in Point Loma zone and the HIE (still unreported here) is in the Coastal zone.
