dahammer Posted May 6, 2008 Report Posted May 6, 2008 started by looking at rates on HOTWIRE, saw what appeared to be the 3* Holiday Inn Express for $129 and the Day's Inn for $139 (too bad I couldn't stay in Hoboken, the 4* Hyatt was going for $113). I opened my Priceline bid in Brooklyn at the 2.5* level at $70, but it was rejected. Added rebid zones and bid $80, then $91 when I received a counteroffer to increase my bid by $22. Rebid $94, then $97, success!Your Offer Price: $97.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $23.22 Total Charges: $120.22 The rack rate is $269 ($312 with tax), so this works for me :) Parking is $20, but there may be some street parking available. I used the PRICELINE links to support BetterBidding. Brooklyn is now in NYC Zone so while there are no true rebid zones at the 2.5* level, I used Times Square, So Ho, MTE, and MTS as virtual rebid zones since I thought there would be little chance of my bids being accepted.
thereuare Posted May 7, 2008 Report Posted May 7, 2008 Congratulations on your success!Glad to hear you're happy with the results. If you had been accepted in one of your "pseudo" re-bid zones, the $20 parking charge would have seemed cheap! :)Thank you for sharing your win with the board and for using our PRICELINE links to begin your bidding.Hope you're enjoying your stay. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
