Hotwire Hotel: 3* San Diego (Mission Valley-Hotel Circle) Lafayette Hotel

Stayed at the Lafayette Hotel on El Cajon which is on the outskirts of Mission Valley. This hotel is not near all the others in Hotel Circle.

For $56 a night we were quite pleased. The hotel is older and could use some renovation, but on the upside the rooms were very large with micro and fridge. The best part is we had french doors that opened up into the courtyard and a huge pool. Very nice setting. There is a hot tub also.

Continental breakfast every morning with plenty of selections. Free internet and free business center. Front desk faxed a 12 page contract for me long distance at no charge. Free parking.

It looks like the star rating has been downgraded to 2.5 since our stay. This is a really old property which was probably great in its prime. Again, there are some minor blemishes and some of the fixtures are old but the place is really clean.

ALL of the items suggesting a possible charge were FREE

I'm not positive that the hotel is now 2.5 but when you do a new search for San Diego there is one entry exactly like by booking but 2.5 instead of 3. This may be a stretch on my part to conclude that this is the same hotel.

Probably a leap of faith to conclude this property has been downgraded, but certainly possible and something to keep in mind... thanks for letting us know.
