Colfax
This win surprised me. My 2* bid (aiming for Sixth Avenue Inn) was upgraded to 3*. I was purposely bidding too low for an upgrade (or so I thought) and I planned to stop at $60, which I still thought was safe. Before bidding Downtown I tried to $75 for a 2.5* in Lake Union and $60 for 3* and 2.5* in University-Northgate.A few nights earlier I'd won the Sixth Avenue Inn for $50 when the hotel's rate was $79. For this Friday night stay the Sixth Avenue Inn was $99.I started with $50/2*. At $55/2* I got a counteroffer. I added Lake Union for $58 and got the Crowne Plaza, whose lowest rate online was $180.Bids were placed through BetterBidding's PRICELINE link. Link to comment

Colfax
Parking is $30/night and valet only. Internet another $9.95/night.Some night I'd be happy to stay at the Crowne Plaza for $58; I hear it's a nice hotel and the location is good. But I had a lot of short driving errands to do and having to pay $30 plus tips, four or five times in a day, and wait in a line each time to have my car retrieved just wasn't going to work. I didn't check in and I booked someplace else with free parking conventionally. When I actually want to stay at the Crowne Plaza I probably won't be able to get it. Link to comment
