mmhassa2 Posted April 23, 2008 Report Posted April 23, 2008 I have bidded upto $70 and was rejected for 1 room with 2 adults and 1 child. Am I doing anything wrong? I chose the downtown Montreal.
thereuare Posted April 23, 2008 Report Posted April 23, 2008 Welcome to BetterBidding! To begin, PRICELINE only guarantees double occupancy, so although you may want a room with 2adults/1child, you're only bidding for a room that is guaranteed for double occupancy. This is a risk, one which some are willing to take and others are not... is this acceptable to you?If not, HOTWIRE is usually a little bit more, but allows you to search for up to quad occupancy, so this may be a viable option for you as well.Let us know know your thoughts and/or questions regarding the above and we'll advise accordingly. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. mmhassa2 Posted April 23, 2008 Author Report Posted April 23, 2008 Hi I'm open to both hotwire and priceline and since our dd is only 6 it shouldnt be a problem with priceline either. I just want to get a good deal for a nice hotel. Btw I couldnt find the option to "bid" like u can wth PRICELINE in HOTWIRE...is there a direct link for hotwire?
thereuare Posted April 23, 2008 Report Posted April 23, 2008 We have direct links to both PRICELINE and HOTWIRE... please use the links on the board to begin your bidding and searches. There is no 'bidding' on HOTWIRE... for a description of the similarities and differences between each, see this thread: I've Never Used Priceline or Hotwire. Please read the above, and if you'd like to proceed with PRICELINE let us know your maximum bid and we'll suggest a strategy for you to follow. thereuare Posted April 23, 2008 Report Posted April 23, 2008 You don't have any re-bid zones at the 3* level in Montreal.Assuming your $70 rejection was in the last 48 hours, i would simply try again as soon as you can (at least 24 hours since your last rejected bid) and bid $75.I'll add that we often see 4* hotels go for not much more than this, so if you're flexible in your budget and willing to pay a bit more for a 4* property i would hold-off on the above and try for that. As you say above you're looking for "a good deal for a nice hotel"... this would give you a higher rated hotel for perhaps just a little bit more, which (imo) would represent a better value. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.Any questions feel free to ask.Good luck and let us know how it goes. mmhassa2 Posted April 24, 2008 Author Report Posted April 24, 2008 It's still not accepting my bid...I went upto $75 for 4*...got rejected..Should I just make a new account and try the same bids again?
thereuare Posted April 24, 2008 Report Posted April 24, 2008 I'll add that we often see 4* hotels go for not much more than this...I didn't mean $5 more than your previous bid... but within $20-$25 or so... and often doen't mean a sure thing)It has nothing to do with the user account you have set-up with price... your bids have not currently been high enough. If you want to go for a 4* hotel then let us know your maximum bid and we will suggest a strategy for you to follow. If $75 is your maximum then i would bid that for a 3* property since you were recently rejected at $70 for that same hotel class. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. mmhassa2 Posted May 7, 2008 Author Report Posted May 7, 2008 Thanks, it seems like I feel more comfortable with hotwire since there's less "guessing".
dahammer Posted May 7, 2008 Report Posted May 7, 2008 did you take this trip? If you used HOTWIRE, can you provide the details of your stay?
mmhassa2 Posted March 28, 2014 Author Report Posted March 28, 2014 Didn't end up going I believe. Thanks
