doublehelix Posted April 15, 2008 Report Posted April 15, 2008 I'm looking for a minimum 2.5* room close to the Fort Lauderdale airport for max $60Checking in on 5/29/08 and checking out on 5/30/08Suggested bidding strategy?Depending on airfares, I might also need another night at the tail end of my getaway, checking in on 6/1/08 and checking out on 6/2/08. I guess that's two separate bidding efforts no matter how you slice it, eh?And the PERFECT place to land would be the Sheraton Suites Cypress Creek since that's where I'm staying already in the intervening days (free stay for a timeshare pitch). I don't know if I can get it for $60 though. Thanks,~Jen
thereuare Posted April 16, 2008 Report Posted April 16, 2008 From the Priceline Hotel List the Sheraton Cypress Creek is in the North zone (not the Airport)... which zone(s) are you willing to bid? doublehelix Posted April 16, 2008 Author Report Posted April 16, 2008 ... which zone(s) are you willing to bid?I'm glad you pointed that out -- I checked the List and evidently got mixed up with the Sheraton Airport location (as indicated by my other post that you answered elsewhere on this board). In which case, I'd rather stay in these zones for $60 and give up on the Sheraton Cypress Creek for this stay:Ft Lauderdale - Airport NorthFt Lauderdale Airport (FLL)Downtown Ft LauderdaleWe're looking for a nice place to crash after a late-night FLL landing and before an early morning FLL take-off -- so the closer to the airport the better, at 2.5* [or better] for $60 or less. Thanks,~Jen
thereuare Posted April 16, 2008 Report Posted April 16, 2008 Before suggesting a strategy to follow, a comment with my own 2 cents...Most Airport locations will offer a shuttle (not guaranteed, but likely) and the Downtown zone isn't too far in the sense that a cab won't cost too much... but once you venture into the North zone cab fare may become to become a significant factor. I wouldn't want to see you get a great deal on a hotel but then see much of the savings evaporate with cab fare. But i may be missing the point of this stay, since in your first post you mention 'filling in' a nite before a timeshare presentation, but then mention that it's an overnite between a late nite flight arrival and early morning flight departure... can you clarify?Let us know your thoughts regarding the above and we'lll take it from there. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.
