djrh Posted April 15, 2008 Report Posted April 15, 2008 I need to book a room for 04-19 in White Plains, but since Priceline refused even $71, I looked at Hotwire. There are two hotels at ~ the same price:$69 3-star hotel in Tarrytown - White Plains :Complimentary BreakfastFitness CenterBusiness CenterHigh-speed Internet Access$68 2.5-star hotel in Tarrytown - White Plains Complimentary BreakfastFitness CenterPool(s)High-speed Internet AccessWhich one is better (if you can ID them). And yes, I will use the HOTWIRE link once I decide :) Thanks
dahammer Posted April 15, 2008 Report Posted April 15, 2008 the 3* has yet to be reported, but HERE is another topic someone posted for the same dates. I believe the 2.5* is a match for the LaQuinta in Elmsford. I stayed here 4 years ago when it was a Wellesley Inn and it was not very nice, I'm sure that the hotel has been upgraded since then.Thank you in advance for using the HOTWIRE links on the board :)
djrh Posted April 16, 2008 Author Report Posted April 16, 2008 Well, I guess we'll find out. Since the 2.5 is not very nice, I guess I have no choice but to go for the 3*. I guess I won't lose much ...
thereuare Posted April 16, 2008 Report Posted April 16, 2008 It's a one nite stay and cheaper than just about anything else in the area, so a good time to give it a try :)Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.Let us know how it goes so we can add it to the hotel list. djrh Posted April 16, 2008 Author Report Posted April 16, 2008 WTF? The 3 star hotel is gone? :) Not listed anymore? wierd ...the 2.5 was up to $95 this morning, now down to 68. :) Should I wait to see if the 3 star becomes available?ThanksEDIT: The 2.5 star shows $68 if I select 1 adult and $95 if I select 2 adults.
thereuare Posted April 17, 2008 Report Posted April 17, 2008 The 3 star hotel is gone? :) Not listed anymore? wierd ...Not really... somebody else bought it before you and took the allotted number of rooms.Should I wait to see if the 3 star becomes available? What, and how much, is your next option? djrh Posted April 18, 2008 Author Report Posted April 18, 2008 damn, the hotel is back, but I already got at Priceline Hilton Rye at $75. Duh, could have saved $10 :) I did use the PRICELINE link :)
dahammer Posted April 18, 2008 Report Posted April 18, 2008 but I already got at Priceline Hilton Rye at $75.... could have saved $10yes, but you probably saved $75 compared to Hilton's direct rates! :) This is a nice hotel among lots of trees, kind of an oasis about 30 minutes from NYC.
thereuare Posted April 18, 2008 Report Posted April 18, 2008 Congratulations on your win and thank you for sharing it with the board. It was entirely possible the HOTWIRE hotel may have never come back, or came back at a much higher price. Missing out $10 doesn't seem like too much of a price to pay for 'security' when you've won the hotel has less than half price. Sometimes a bird in hand...Thank you for sharing your win with the board and for using our PRICELINE link to begin your bidding.Enjoy your stay.
