Bruce Posted April 15, 2008 Report Posted April 15, 2008 I have had 3 bids rejected by priceline for a 3* JFK Hotel ($85,90,95) for May 4. Hotwire has a 3* Hotel for $115 - the amenities listed are breakfast, internet, shuttle, laundry and fitness center. Any ideas on which hotel this might be. I absolutely do not want the Ramada JFK Plaza. Thanks for your help.
thereuare Posted April 15, 2008 Report Posted April 15, 2008 The property above has not yet been identified, but i think you can rule out the Ramada Plaza as that has a 1.5 TA rating and the hotel above (on my search) shows a 3.5* TA rating... so if you received the Ramada Plaza i would think you would have pretty good grounds for a dispute.I'm guessing the above could be the Best Western (upgraded from 2* since previously reported) with the amenities above or the Holiday Inn Express. These two would be my best guess, but i'd also add the Days Inn as a distant third possibility (although would most likely be rated less than 3 stars)Not sure if this is just a quick layover for you, but since it's a Sunday nite (the slowest hotel nite in NYC), you may also want to consider staying in Manhattan itself if you'll have any time to enjoy it. You could probably get a 4* hotel for just a little more than the above, likely get a 3* for about the same price, and be able to spend a little time in Manhattan. (if you're watching your budget, keep in mind RT to the city and back will cost you about $20-$35 depending upon how you do the commute)Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.Let us know what you decide and how it goes or if we can be of further help. dahammer Posted April 15, 2008 Report Posted April 15, 2008 the Ramada is currently rated 2.5* under Vacation Packages and only the air is complimentary at this property, certainly not breakfast. :) Although this has not been positively ID'd, this could be the Holiday Inn Express
Bruce Posted April 16, 2008 Author Report Posted April 16, 2008 Hotwire is now showing a 3* hotel for $109 which has a restaurant and is non-smoking. The only hotel I can figure it would be is the Marriott Courtyard - but that seems too good of a deal. Am I missing something?
dahammer Posted April 16, 2008 Report Posted April 16, 2008 Am I missing something?yes, the rest of the amenites?
Bruce Posted April 16, 2008 Author Report Posted April 16, 2008 Internet, Shuttle, Laundry, Fitness Center, RESTAURANT and NON-SMOKING. It also indicates: Travel information: 2.9 miles to New York John F Kennedy Intl. (JFK), 7.7 miles to La Guardia Airport (LGA)There is no trip advisor ranking. It's interesting, if you request a room for 4 occupants, the 3* hotel is $115 and does not have a restaurant or non-smoking indicated, but includes breakfast. It also indicates fitness center, laundry and shuttle. The travel information is identical as well as the retail price of $134.
thereuare Posted April 16, 2008 Report Posted April 16, 2008 This latest property has not yet been identified, but i'm going to guess the Courtyard which seems like a good fit.The travel information is the same for both because that information is pertinent to the zone and not the hotel itself (the distances are from the center of the zone and not from the hotel). As well, the 'retail' price is often incorrect, as while it can be for this particular hotel, the official stance is that it's for a hotel of that quality in the zone, not the specific hotel offered. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.Let us know which you decide and how it goes or if we can be of further help. Bruce Posted August 18, 2008 Author Report Posted August 18, 2008 I did get the Holiday Inn Express - the rooms were TINY - but clean. Very strange hotel as you had to take one stairway down (or elevator down) and another elevator to your room.
thereuare Posted August 19, 2008 Report Posted August 19, 2008 You mention two hotels above... one with breakfast (and others) and another without breakfast (and others)Can you please clarify the complete set of amenities shown before your purchase and the price paid per nite, which you may still be able to view by going to HOTWIRE and clicking the MY ACCOUNT link near the top right of their home page.Thanks.
