Our first trip to Washington. It was suggested to us that we look for a hotel in Georgetown or Dupont Circle as downtown Washington pretty much shuts down after the business day is over and the museums close.

Looked on Hotwire, and saw that they were offering what seemed like the Hilton for $101 in DuPont Circle and the Westin Grand at GW for $95. Since we were visiting DC with relatives who have a room at the Washington Marriott in the Georgetown/Foggy Bottom zone, we wanted to get something close to them before cancelling our existing reservation at the Marriott at $189/night. Started the bidding in Georgetown at $77, and used rebid zones at $84 and $89 before being rejected. We decided to leave it alone for a day. We restarted the bidding at $85 the next day, and was accepted immediately.

We checked the Melrose's website, and the lowest price available for a room for the 3 nights was on average $116/night, with an all-in cost of $397.32 for approximate savings of 25%. Not a screaming deal, but the Tripadvisor rating has it listed quite nicely.
