Can someone help me ID the following hotel?

3* in Secaucus - Meadowlands

(Best Value) $86 per night with 50% savings and Trip Advisor rating 4 out of 5.

Amenities:

Complimentary Breakfast

Fitness Center

Business Center

High-speed Internet Access

Could it be Hyatt place (the price for Hyatt place is around 170-180 for my dates) or La Quinta?

Thank you.

can you please post your dates of travel?

The dates are May 2 -5, 2008.

Also, I just noticed something else: if you add up the price and the savings the total is 172.33 (exactly the price on La Quinta' web site). On the other hand a Business Center at La Quinta?

this one is tough....HOTWIRE's Vacation Packages show the Hyatt Place with just 3 amenities: Breakfast, Fitness, High Speed Internet. The Hyatt place has a business center, I'm not sure why this is not listed. The LaQuinta should have a Pool, Suite, and Restaurant amenities.

I think the strongest indication that it should be the Hyatt Place is the Trip Advisor rating (4 out of 5, with the last review in Dec 2007) which is an exact match. For the La Quinta, the rating is 2.5 out of 5 with the last review in feb. 2008. However, I don't know whether I should trust this.

Thanks.

Welcome to BetterBidding!

You can trust the TA ratings to an extent (see below)... do not truse the retail price of the hotel (which is somtimes right/sometimes wrong... it's actually the retail price of a hotel of that star level in the zone)

In addition to the above two, i'll add the Fairfield Inn to the mix. The TA ratings are not updated dynamicly nor very frequently (maybe once a month)... so although the Fairfield Inn is currently showing 3.5* (vs. the 4* above), the last review was just a few days ago (so not likely included in the data the last time HOTWIRE pulled it) and prior to that was Dec 2007. The review was negative and may have been enough to take the overall hotel rating down from a 4* to a 3.5*, which if all the 'cards above line up correctly', would make the Fairfield Inn just as much of a match as the Hyatt Place.

The 3* rating may be a bit strong for a Fairfield Inn, but i'm just mentioning it as a possibility, and there could be others in a similar sitaution.

I just posted the results of my hotel bid today for 7/28-7/29. It was the LaQuinta Inn and Suites in Secaucus (not Clifton). It was identified as 3 stars in Secaucus-Meadowlands with 3 amenity icons: complimentary breakfast, fitness center and high speed Internet. I was hoping it was the Hyatt Place, but it wasn't. Hope this helps.

The OP listed 4 amenities, while the LaQuinta Inn and Suites Secaucus has 3 amenities :)

ralu,

So did you bid & find out? I have the same struggle here (really wants Hyatt Place but afraid to get La Quinta). One more tricky thing is there are actually 2 La Quinta properties under that zone... I read all the postings & seems that:

1) LaQuinta Inn and Suites in Secaucus was identified as 3 stars in Secaucus-Meadowlands with 3 amenity icons: complimentary breakfast, fitness center and high speed Internet.

2) LaQuinta Inn and Suites in Clifton: 2.5 stars (downgraded from 3 stars), with additional "Pool" amenity.

Then there is still the "Business Center" icon???? Finally, it seems that every successful bids are through priceline, and none are from hotwire (except one posting from last Dec).

Well, I guess the only person who can answer this is Ralu now... hope to see you successfully posting very soon!!!!

The other tricky thing is I realize that are no more "3 amenities icon" the same as what described before for La Quinta Secaucus. I checked many dates and there are no such 3-icon hotel shown (with exactly Fitness, Internet & Breakfast).

I suspect now hotwire add one more "business center" icon to mask this hotel... then everyone thinks it's Hyatt Place!!! By the way, please confirm if everyone here has bidded Hyatt Place successfully & recently using hotwire? =)

MANY THANKS!!!!!!

Sophia unless your dates are the same, please start a new thread with your dates of travel, the zone that the hotel appears in, and the rate per night.

Sorry... first time user and not familiar with the posting structure :)

ANYWAY, I have to say this forum is extremely helpful and I clicked your link.

Ralu - You probably see from my posting that this is indeed Hyatt Place & I got the same price you quoted above $86 for 1 night and $79 for 4 nights together!

Thanks for the reply. Now it is clear that it is the Hyatt Place, although I didn't bid since I was almost convinced it was the La Quinta. By the way, I called the La Quinta in Secaucus and it turns out they have a Business Center too ...

yes, can't believe how much "research" we have put into this... now I am quite familiar which 3-star hotels in Secaucus have swimming pools, hahaa~ anyway, I am sure the information in this forum will be helpful to others, and for ourselves bidding elsewhere. Take care.
