dahammer Posted April 1, 2008 Report Posted April 1, 2008 looking for some inexpensive digs in the Piscataway area, as always, I checked HOTWIRE and saw that there was a 3* for $58 (Fitness Center, Pool, Restaurant, Business Center, Laundry Facilities, High-speed Internet Access). Thought this might be the Radisson in Piscataway, and decided to give PRICELINE a crack. With 2 rebid zones at the 3* level, I opened my bid @ $47. Success!Your Offer Price: $47.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $14.53 Total Charges: $61.53 A little bidders remorse set in, but this is a great deal compared to the $189 rack rate. This property is the former Somerset Marriott, a hotel that had been neglected for years by its owners, hence the loss of the Marriott badge. This property has a pool in the courtyard and with rates like this or better, this could be a nice little weekend get-away. The Bound Brook train station is fairly close, but service ends in Newark, so if heading into the city, it may be better to drive to the New Brunswick station 5 miles away.
thereuare Posted April 1, 2008 Report Posted April 1, 2008 Congratulations on your win! Thanks for sharing it with the board and helping us update this property in the Priceline Hotel List.Hope the new Crowne Plaza owners are taking care of the property, let us know any update/changes you notice.Enjoy your stay. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
dahammer Posted April 2, 2008 Author Report Posted April 2, 2008 the only changes that I noticed were free WiFi and that the hotel seemed pretty empty. Also, I noticed that PRICELINE paid $48.30 for the room and tax, so tonight, a bid of $42 should have won; PRICELINE's fee was $13.23, about a 27% margin, gotta pay Captain Kirk. I would think that weekends should have even lower occupancy.
