oceanik Posted March 29, 2008 Report Posted March 29, 2008 Hi,I'm looking for 5 nights at the end of April and a few questions:When do I have the best chances to find a good hotel at a decent price? now and at the last minute?Should I try to split the 5 nights into 3 and 2 nights for a better deal?Do you have any idea of the price for a 4, 3 and 2 1/2 stars hotel for those dates in downtown San Fran?Around 100, 85 and 65?Thanks! If something can go wrong, it will. If anything simply cannot go wrong, it will anyway.
Colfax Posted March 29, 2008 Report Posted March 29, 2008 What specific dates are you bidding for, oceanik? Have you checked the Priceline Calendar of Wins to see if anyone else has won those dates yet?As long as your travel plans are firm it's not too soon to bid now. You'll often get a better deal by splitting but before you do that you can try bidding five nights together.
oceanik Posted March 29, 2008 Author Report Posted March 29, 2008 Hi Colfax,I checked the calendar for my dates (April 24th to 29th) and there is no win.I'll try one more week with a 5 night strategy and I can't get anything I'll split in 2Thanks! thereuare Posted March 29, 2008 Report Posted March 29, 2008 Which zones are you including in your bidding? Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
oceanik Posted March 29, 2008 Author Report Posted March 29, 2008 I tried first with USE and USW only (preferred areas).... and then I added Cathedral Hill, Civic Center Area, Fisherman's Wharf and Lombard Street Area If something can go wrong, it will. If anything simply cannot go wrong, it will anyway.
thereuare Posted March 29, 2008 Report Posted March 29, 2008 Bidding as you have can result in an overbid and you should bid more systematically than you have been...How high have you bid already (for a 4 star)? Which of the above zones do you want to include in your bidding (do you want a 4* in the Fishermans Wharf zone... it's not clear from the way you bid if you want to include that in your bidding or only after you fail in the USE and USW zones up to your limit)Let us know and we'll suggest a strategy for you to follow. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.
