We're staying in NY on Oct. 4 before beginning a New England cruise. We're going to see Wicked at the Gershwin and would like to find a close hotel. Would you suggest a strategy. How soon should I begin bidding? We could go up to $200-$250, but would like to save as much as possible. We just want a clean, nice as possible hotel in a safe area close to the Gershwin. Thanks. A cab from most midtown locations to the theater district will top out at ~$10-$12... is it worth it to restrict your geographic area to "close to the theater" when for $10 cab fare you can get a much better hotel deal in a nearby zone? Typically the best deals comes to those who are the most flexible, as including the greatest number of zones incrases the number of hotels which could possibly accept your bid, as well as gives you more bidding opportunities in a bidding strategy.Also, PRICELINE doesn't use a 3.5* quality in their rating system (HOTWIRE does use a 3.5*) so thru priceline you'll need to stick with 4 star rated hotels... unless you think a 3* would be acceptable as well.Let us know your thoughts regarding the above and we'll take it from there. Finally, today I won the Hilton in Times Square for $220 for Oct. 4th. That's better than anything I could book myself for a 4 star hotel.Thanks for all your help in teaching me how to bid.
