pterrell Posted March 6, 2008 Report Posted March 6, 2008 Tried bidding 3* from $40 in $2 increments, having to stop at $60. Had the wife use her account to start at $61 and increment $1, getting the HI at $63. Higher price than I was getting used to, but not the highest. Still better than Hotwire at $86. But not as good as the Entertainment rate of $61 on the HI website...damn, I got so into bidding I forgot that...Your Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: $63.00 Subtotal: $189.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $32.96 Total Charges*: $221.96

Colfax Posted March 6, 2008 Report Posted March 6, 2008 I'm wondering if you could have got a 3* bid accepted for less than $63 in the Fresno zone? Or do you just like the 2* La Quinta in the Fresno zone and not the 3* options?
pterrell Posted March 6, 2008 Author Report Posted March 6, 2008 My bidding included the Fresno zone. I actually was hoping to try the Four Points, so I began my bidding cycles by bidding just Fresno. But I'm sure that the Radisson was unavailable on Saturday as it wasn't on Hotwire. And the Four Points was showing up on Hotwire at $99 versus the Holiday Inn at $89. So they must have wanted something higher. The Convention Center is hosting a Youth Wrestling Championship on Saturday, explaining why the downtown hotels are unavailable. The La Quinta is good in that when it's not crowded, you can park close to your room. This is important as the wife usually likes to bring "extras", such as a potted plant, hot water bottle, ice chest, and DVD player. So sometimes I'll make four trips back and forth to the car. And of course there's the complimentary breakfast. And the quality level is "good enough".The Radisson is nice, but it's often a long walk from the lot to the room. And I've stayed there on nights that the La Quinta was unavailble or more expensive. But it brings back memories of my 10-year high school reunion and the night my then fiance said she found another man. :)
pterrell Posted March 6, 2008 Author Report Posted March 6, 2008 Shucks!! I did some more checking on that Entertainment Card rate. It can be canceled up to 6:00pm. And since there's no booking fee, I would have saved about $16. So I'm going to have to stop my PRICELINE bidding at $58.
